Trip to Virginia

On Wednesday we went to visit Jay's family in Virginia. We get up early and stopped out side of Charlotte, NC and went to CiCi's Pizza with my sister Wendy. We got to meet her new boyfriend and had a very nice visit. CJ was not sure what to think of her at first, but then she wanted Wendy to sit next to her and would not let Wendy and I talk. CJ kept putting her face between us and just wanted Wendy's attention all to her self. CJ was very happy to be spoiled by Wendy. Wendy had gotten her a new shirt and shorts for CJ's birthday. CJ just loved them and had to wear them the very next day. We then finished our drive to Virginia.

The first thing that we did when we got to Virginia was go see Linda's grave. We were there a while and as we left we run into Uncle Tom who had come to Virginia for a visit to. He was talking to an old friend of his from the old hunting club that he would take Jay to when Jay was very little. This friend went to school with Jay's dad to. Jay just loves how friendly everyone up north is and how fun it is to go any place and someone knows him or his parents. We went to some of the families homes. We got to met Aunt Brenda one of Linda's sisters that I had never met before. We went by Johnny's place to see that it was up for sale and talking to the neighbor. Then had dinner with Ron and Uncle Tom. It was getting really late so we got our Hotel.

As we went to put CJ down to bed I could not find her Pinky Dog. She just started crying and told us that she could not sleep with out her Pinky Dog. Jay and I could not remember were she had lost her, but we do know that she had the dog at the cemetery. Jay and Uncle Tom at 10:30 at night took off to go find Pinky Dog. Jay said that as soon as he got in the trunk he thought that she may have left it at Johnny's neighbor, because he remembers her going in the house with it but not coming out. It was so late that he could not go over to her house, so he took off to Wal-mart. He got her a stuffed elephant that she named Dumbo and a bear that she named Louie. It helped and we went to sleep. The next day we went and picked up Pinky Dog, but CJ still want to sleep with her all 3 of her new babies.

Thursday we spent most of the day with Ron and Uncle Dave. We went to some of the places that Jay and Ron went to as kids before we went up the mountain to Uncle Dave's. Garrett got to catch crawdads in the some place that his dad did when he was a kid. We had dinner with Ron and went back to the hotel to get sleep. It was late again and we were very tired.

We got up the next morning and CJ wanted to go swimming. CJ and I got in the pool and Jay watched us for a while. I could not get CJ to show Jay all that she learned at swim lessons. Jay then all of the sudden jumped in the pool with his clothes on and we all played. CJ then got the nerves to try and swim back and forth between Jay and I. We then packed up and headed home. On the way home we got caught in a really bad rain storm so it took us a long time to get home. We did have to stop at the Bass Pro Shop and see the 104 pound catfish that was just donated to the aquarium. It was one big fish. CJ for one of the first times did not get a new hat, but I did what to get her the shirt that said, "Some girls play with dolls, some girls go fishing." But I did not get it. If it would have said, "Some girl like to play with worms." that would have been different.

We got home at about 6:30 last night unpacked the car and just rested. This was one of the best trips that we have had up north in a long time.
