October

As October began life other than work got busy.  I had bought tickets to an American Girl Doll fashion show.  The tickets were pricey but I thought that it would be a once in a life time even for CJ. The event took place on one of the worst rain storms that we had.  They had record breaking rain fall and flooding.  One of the people going with us cancelled because they were nervous about going out in the weather, with the price I paid for the tickets we were going no matter what. The Fashion show was very nice and CJ had a lot of fun.  The food was awful: the fruit cup was pretty but they had mini hamburgers and mac and cheese sticks. It was not even enough food, so we told Jay to meet us at Dairy Queen after the show.  When we got home she Skyped Ellie and they played Fashion, so I know that CJ had a good time, so even though the food was bad it was very much worth it for CJ.

Girl Scouts are not working out so well this year.  We had our first meeting on October, but it really was not a meeting.  We filled out paperwork while the children played Red Rover and then we left.  I decided with everything this year I did not need the stress of being a leader so I quit and with that I think that our troop just died.

For Halloween this year CJ wanted to be a pop star called Ariana Grande.  I tried to talk her into something else but she was very adamant about it.  She told me that she read a book about her in class and she was now her favorite singer.  I asked her what songs she sings but she did not know she only knew what was in the book.  She just dressed in jeans and a shirt then put on gloves and grabbed a microphone.  Not much to it, but she had fun going around and sing.

The rain had been so bad this fall that they even had to cancel Hebrew school one day, so we had to do the Simchat Torah service on a different day.

One of CJ’s friends, Rachel, had a birthday party at the bowling alley.  It was fun listening to the girls talk about how different it was bowling verse playing bowling on video games.

After we got back from the Hebrew school and Rachel’s birthday party, Jay wanted to take us to this place where he had been medal detecting.  It was at a park and very nice. We had dinner in the park and went for a small hike to see this old beautiful dam.
