June 2021

CJ finished school the first week in June but I had to go until June 17th.  CJ came to my school a couple of times to help me pack and get ready to leave.  I could not believe how much stuff you collect over 9 years of being in one school.

CJ and I started to attend in-person services at the temple it is nice that things are getting back to normal.  Dr. Debbie told CJ to talk to Rabbi about the things going on at school so that maybe he could help at least with the anti-semantic things.  Maybe not everything else and I feel CJ just needs to talk to any of the students at Palmetto that are not her close friends.

We had lots going on at school the last weeks, testing, packing, school activities, so I just kept busy.  CJ would clean the house for us because she was home.  She decided that because of all the restrictions that she had to do when she wants to camp this summer so that she did not have to do them she wanted to get the COVID vaccine.  I told her it was her body and if she wanted it she should get it.  I understood the pressure she was under.  She had no problems with the first shot just a sore arm.

The weekend before school got out Jay, CJ, and I went to my school and got all my personal things out.  We filled Jay's truck and CJ's Jeep right up.  It was a lot of stuff and we were so hot and sweaty when we were done.

School got out and it was so sad since I had been there so long. One of my students made me so sad because she made me a beautiful sign.
Friday CJ and I went to the temple.  Thursday, I had to take my car in so that Friday they could fix the recall that was on my car.  After we went to dinner before temple and Jay and CJ went to second and Charlies.  CJ wants real records so I found my old record player and gave it to her.  She was looking at records and I had to giggle that my child was looking at Barbra Streisand records.
Over the weekend CJ volunteered for American Girl Club.  She had so much fun and then we went to our first Temple Sisterhood meeting.  It was nice to see and really talk to other ladies I have seen around the temple but because they were not part of the choir or religious school I had never talk to them before.
The next week we started our real summer break.  I started to work on my summer cleaning but did not get very far because we had so much other stuff going on.  Tuesday CJ received her final COVID vaccination shot.  I still do not know how I feel about that shot yet but it was her choice and I understand why she wanted to do it.  With going to camp there was so much pressure to get the shot.  With CJ going to camp we had her hair redone and CJ and I want for facials.  It was so much fun and relaxing.  CJ was late to piano lessons and she told me that Ms. Nancy was not happy with her. CJ again asked if she could quit piano lessons.  I told her this time that it was ok.  Since she is not planning on having a career in music and is almost completed with the lesson books I just let CJ end lessons.  CJ and Ms. Nancy have not gotten along for a long time now so I thought that it was the right thing.  I told CJ she still had to practice piano and keep her skills up.
Wednesday we went to see the nutrition specialist.  CJ has not been happy with her weight and I have not been happy with all the highs and lows that she has had with her diabetes.  I think that CJ and I learned a lot and CJ received some meal planning advice.

CJ had a friend come spend the night. Chanessey and CJ spent the night watching musicals and singing.  It was fun to watch them be so silly.  I took them to the mall so that they could goof around and just be teens.

Saturday CJ volunteered at the museum for Princess day.  They had hired actors that were dressed up as Disney princesses to come to the museum.  CJ was the only volunteer that came.  CJ dressed but not as a Disney princess.  She helped at the door and was surprised that they had almost 200 little girls come to the event.  It was frustrating because they can not get that many girls to come to the American girl club.

Sunday CJ wants to the first Choir practice in a very long time.  They are going to be able to sing for the High Holiday and CJ is so happy about it.  She was still annoyed with practice but was also happy to be able to be practicing again.

Monday we got up and get ready for me to take CJ to Camp Sweet Escape.  This is a diabetic camp in Georgia.   This camp is only for a week and I am glad that she is going there before I sent her all the way to New York for CLTC.  This is the first time that she has been to a camp since being diagnosed.  I am so nervous.  She could not have her phone so after I dropped her off I have not heard from her since. It was a long week worrying. But when I dropped her off the nurses were so good about letting me know who they were and their credentials.  So that I would know that she was in good hands. I had to stay in the car the whole time during drop off so I was not even able to see her cabin it was really hard.  I do not think that I am worried as much about her diabetes being managed as her making friends.  I am hoping that she is not annoyed by the other kids there her age and that she makes friends.
