July has been a better month. CJ went to music camp and loved it. She could not wait to go every day. She told me that she wished it was
longer. The music teacher told me that
she wish they had more time as well, because they were all having fun. Most of the kids in her camp were from Cedar
Grove elementary school, which is where the teacher was from, but that did not
stop CJ from making friends and having a really good time. On Friday of the camp they put on a little
show. CJ at the end of the show would
not bow and through most of the show she did not smile. When I asked her why, she said that she was
concentrating on the words and always forgets to smile. She also told me that it was embarrassing to bow
and just did not want to do it.
The next week CJ went to Girl Scout overnight camp. It was the first time we have really been
away from each other. She has spent the
night a friend’s house before but it was only overnight, right down the road,
and I was able to call to see if she was ok.
At camp they could not have any electronics at all. I was not able to call. I did not send her to camp with a friend so
she was on her own. The first night that
she was up there I could not sleep. She
was staying in a cabin that had outdoor bathrooms and no air conditioning. I was so afraid that she was going to be too
hot, not made friends, and had a hard time being away from us. She said that the first night was hard
because she missed us, but after that she was busy and had made friends. She told me that she had a really good time
at camp and could not wait to go back again.
When I picked her up she seemed so mature and happy. She talked a mile a minute telling me able
all the things she had done.
When we got home I did not even take her dirty clothes in
the house. Her sleeping bag smelled like
feet and everything was muddy and smelly.
Monday we went and had CJ’s birthday pictures done. I was very happy with the pictures this year.
This week we had been getting ready for CJ’s birthday
party. On Thursday CJ wanted to come out
to the Farmers Market with me to help me sell some of my crocheted pieces. We did not sell anything so CJ was very
bored. I think that she was glad when
her dad came to get her. Jay gave CJ a challenge
she was to look at this kid’s cookbook that he brought home and find a recipe
that she wanted to cook. So after he
picked her up she cooked English muffin pizzas.
Jay and I thought it was a great way to get her to read. I think that she did not even release that she
had to read a book to find out how to cook something.
