Holidays

Another busy month Thanksgiving went well even with just the 3 of us.  We put up our Hanukkah bush that weekend and just relaxed.  On Friday, CJ and I went to go see Disney on Ice with the girl scouts.  CJ sat and was in amazement with the skater.  She was on the edge of her seat the whole time and enjoyed sharing the experience with her friends.  After that show I decided that I really need to take her to her first Ballet as well.

After Thanks giving break the next 3 weeks were so busy with Christmas activities.  We went to cookies with Santa at CJ’s school.  She told me when we went because we did not have much time that she was not going to color any pictures.  She was just going to see Santa and do the activities.  She ended up spending most of her time coloring a Christmas card for her dad.  We when left there and went caroling with the girl scouts at a nursing home called the Legacy.  It was a very pretty place but I was a little disappointed that we only song a couple of songs and then left.  I do not even think that we were their 30 minutes.

CJ had her Christmas concert of recorder choir and Palmetto Singers.   She did a beautiful job.  It is always fun to she her perform.  She talked about when she was in 2nd grade and was in the play that was right after her performance.  CJ wanted to stay after she was done and watch the 2nd grade play.

Sunday CJ had her last day of Hebrew school before the winter break.  They had a big Hanukkah party.  CJ had fun running around with her friends.  They did relay racings, played driedle, made Hanukkah cards, and eat latkes.  CJ even tried a latke but said that she still did not like it.

On Sunday, I got tickets to go see the Nutcracker.  This was the first ballet that we all have ever gone to see.  Jay even came with us.  It was a great show.  CJ was amazed by the dancers and loved every minute of it.  CJ wanted a get a nutcracker souvenir, so we found a small one that was not very expensive. I love watching her be so happy.  We had such a wonderful family day.

This week started Hanukkah and the first day was on Tuesday when we had girl scouts.  So at girl scouts I shared a little about Hanukkah and we had a big holiday party. During the gift exchange the girls got to pick random gifts from under the tree.  One of the girls picked a gift that she did not like and was very upset and crying.  CJ picked a gift that she very much liked.  But she felt bad of the girl and traded gifts with her (all but the lip gloss because she had already opened it and used it).  I was very proud of CJ and how generous she was to do that for the girl.  I do not know many 9 year olds that would give up something they like to make another little girl happy.  I told CJ that I would get her the things that she liked in the box that she gave away because she was being so selfless.  CJ also was selfless earlier in the week when she asked if she could get a gift of her own to give to her grandmother when she came for Hanukkah.  I told her that we already spent a lot of money on grandma and we do not need to get her other gift.  We can just put all of our names on the gift.  CJ said that she did not want to do that.  So she took her money and went out shopping at the Jockey lot with her dad and found a gift that she wanted to give to her grandmother.  It was a beautiful box and necklace.  I again could not have been more proud and amazed at the kindness that my child has shown.
Mom came on Tuesday and CJ was so happy.  All the ways home from Daycare Tuesday she was crossing her figures.  When I asked what she was going she said that she was crossing her figures in hopes that grandma will be at the house when we get there.  We could not see her car until we got in the driveway and CJ was almost disappointed.  CJ loves having her grandma here.  Mom came to my school and helped me all week.  It was so nice having her at the school helping.  The next day mom was late coming back from the school and stopped and got gas.  I got CJ and came home when we got home mom was not back yet.  CJ after we pulled up seat in the car and pouted.  Jay thought that we had gotten into a fight. I told him that she was just so sad that grandma was not there when we had gotten home.

Last night we went to temple of the family Hanukkah dinner.  CJ had fun playing with her friends.  Today we are going to be going to the American Girl Club Tea Party.
