June

I cannot believe that I have not touched this blog for the entire month of June.  Not that I have been that busy this summer, just keep forgetting about the blog.

On the 1st of June CJ had her awards day at school.  It was perfect because my students were on a field trip so I was able to get off work to go.  She received several awards one for Excellence in Music, Math, Social Studies, ELA, Science, Recreational Reading, and All “A” Honor roll all year.  She is so smart and I am so proud of her.

On the 2nd we had our last Girl Scout meeting for the year.  It was at the skating rink.  CJ had fun with her friends, but is still having trouble learning to skate.  I even got on skates for a little while and did not full down.  I thought that I was going to that is why I did not wear them for very long.  I was not happy at the Girl Scout event I thought that we were going to get all of our patches and badges for the work that the girls did all year, but we did not get them, we only got the patches for cookie sales.  CJ did not notice because she was just happy to be playing with her friends.  I was very happy about that.

As the summer began for CJ, it did not begin for me.  CJ got out of school before me because of make-up snow days.  Her school did not have as many.  Also I had in-services days and she did not, so that first week she was off of school I sent her to art camp at the Anderson Art center.  She loved it like always.   On the first day when I was taking her to Art camp she told me that she loves going to Art camp because she makes such good friends there.  I was so happy, because the week before at the daycare she had so many problems.  Every day when I picked her up she would tell me about how the kids her picking on her, calling her names, or throwing things at her.  On the last day she was at the daycare, when I pulled up she was crying and no one was going to her to see want was wrong.  I watched for a bit (not long) and no one came to her assistance.  When I got out of the car and went to her she ran to me and buried her head in my chest.  She told me that the girls were throwing dirt at her and would not stop. When I asked the daycare worker about it she just told me that that girl does that all the time and she had already told her once to stop.  That does not matter to me she did not take care of my child and that is what I was paying for.  I have been working all summer trying to find alternatives for after school care so that I do not have to send CJ back to Whitefield next school year.

As the summer began we started going to Summer Reading at the library and at the school.   Tuesday we have gone to a couple of the free movies in Easley.

June 22nd through 26th CJ went to music camp at the Williamston Art center.  At first she was the only one in the class and they asked if she wanted to cancel.  She did not want to cancel, she wanted to be at music camp and she was happy to be the only one and have private lessons.  Two other children did join her which was good.  She was happy but I was very disappointed, because they did not have a Friday show.  As a matter a fact the instructor told me of Wednesday that he was not even going to be there on Friday and there would be on class.  I was not happy and told the director that is not want I paid for.  He apologized and told me the he did not know this was going to happen and CJ could come to the art session in the morning if she would like.  CJ was happy to do that, because she is such a good girl.  She was able to work with Clay and made a Minion.  On Thursday they did do a little concert for me with sounds that she had learned.  CJ has such a beautiful voice; I am just so amazed by it.  Even at Temple the other day she was singing her prays and everyone stopped singing to listen to her beautiful voice.  After services several people came up to CJ and asked her to join the choir (which is for adults).  She loves to sing and is so good at it. This year I think that we are going to get her piano and/or voice listens.

Jay had a BBQ competition in Cowpens so we went with him because they have a great parade and small carnival.

We went and had CJ’s 10 year old pictures done.  She is getting so big and beautiful.   I was not totally happy with the pictures this year, but they were very busy and rushed through the pictures.  She had to redo some of the pictures because they did not turn out. CJ was very patient with the lady and all the time it took me to pick out pictures.  I cannot wait to get them back.

On June 30th we went to the dentist and I had made a deal with CJ that if she took care of her tooth and we did not have any cavities when we were at the dentist the next time she could get her ears pierced 3 years early.  We told her she could not have her ears pierced until she was 13.  She did it and on the Friday we went and got her ears pierced.  She was very nervous about it, but that was not stopping her.  She wanted them done so badly.  We picked out a nice pair of crystal earrings (She wanted diamonds) there were just a little more than the plan balls, but they looked so pretty.  She was such a trooper that she did not even yell when it was done.  I was very proud of how brave she was.  She just loves having her ears pierced and cannot wait to be about to were dangly earrings.

In May, I had taken CJ’s friend Claire to Biltmore with us.  We did not go in the house because it was so busy and we wanted to hike that day.  I told her that I would take her back this summer and we would go through the house, so we went.  The whole time we were in the house Claire was like “Look, Cool”.  It was fun to watch.  The girls had a fun day playing.

That Friday was Claire’s Birthday party. Because it was the 4th of July it was in the evening and ended with a fireworks show.  I had made two American girl doll outfits for her.  One was a swimsuit and it was funny because her parents had gotten her a beach set for her American girl doll so my gift went right with her parents.

On Sunday we got up early, packed lunch, Garrett’s birthday gifts, and drove to Georgia to have a picnic with Garrett for his birthday.  CJ so loves seeing her brother.  She was so happy.  We went to this quiet park where there was no one.  It was very nice and peaceful.  We had gotten Garrett a new grill for his birthday.  So the two boys with CJ’s assistance put it together and then cooked hamburgers and hot dogs.  It was a nice visit and I think that Garrett really liked his gift.

On Monday, CJ and I went with Claire and her family to the water park.  I got in a swimsuit and went down water slide with CJ.  It was fun to do the activities with her.  I was amazed at how easy it was to walk up and down the stairs for the water slides.   We all had a good time.  I did not put on enough sun screen and CJ and I got sun burnt.  CJ was so tired at the end of the day that she had trouble doing our walking that evening. So we just did 2 miles instead of 3.  Most days on our walk CJ has loved the fact that the sprinkler are on on the football field and while I run the bleachers she runs in the sprinkler.

This week we are going to get CJ ready to go to overnight Girl Scout camp.  She is so excited about going.  This year she will be not doing a horse session she wanted to do an art session.  She is so about art this year.
