Endings and Mother's Day

CJ had her mock Seder for Passover at Hebrew School. For the OyVey Café, Rabbi asked that I try to keep it kosher.  I search the internet to try and come up with kosher breakfasts that I could make and serve at the OyVey Café.  I made matzah pancakes for the students. They did not turn out to bad and I think the kids liked it or just all the sweet treats they got to place on top.  It was quite a mess a lot more work than just putting out bagels.  I was glad when some other parents offered to help me.  If I have to do this next year I will get more parents to help. I will also remember more wipe cream because that went really fast.

CJ's had her last Spring Fling at Palmetto Elementary. This was sad thinking that it would be her last Elementary Spring Fling. I cannot believe that 5th grade is almost over and next year CJ will be in middle school where did the time go.  CJ went with Britney and Claire because I had to work late.  When I get there it was so hot that Britney was ready to go.  CJ wanted to stay a little longer, so we stayed and she played a little more.  I was able to get a picture of her with her 5th grade teacher Mrs. Sutherland.

At the end of April the Museum had an American Girl PJ party. The director of the Museum asked if I could sell some of the American Girl Doll dresses. I worked all month making crocheted doll clothes, but was only able to sell 3 outfits.  That was better than nothing.  We had to be there the whole time.  CJ said that her favorite part of the day when the second half after the crowd had died down.  She liked doing the Molly Jump rope challenge.  I bought CJ a VIP ticket to this event because I know we would be there all day (the ticket was only $5).  CJ was able to get a bag of fun stuff, which included a jump rope.  CJ has been asking for a jump rope of a while.  I am not sure why she wants one so bad but she did and she get it (has not used it since).  She also got some sweet treats that she really liked.  CJ said that the movies were hard to hear with all the kids doing activities in the background but the activities were fun.

For mother’s day I said that I wanted to get away and do something fun because I have been so overwhelmed with work and very stressed.  On Saturday Jay got us a hotel in Ashville and took me to downtown Ashville. I loved some of the street performers and CJ thought the belly dancer at the restaurant were neat. I was surprised by all the homeless and vagrants that were just sitting on streets begging for money or the kids that looked like they were on drugs just standing around or sitting on the street.  I have always thought of Ashville as being his upscale place that the president of the United States likes to go. I shops were upscale and so were the restaurants, but the city was very dirty.  I did really enjoy the restaurant that we choose to eat at.  They had belly dancers and CJ thought that was really neat.  We ate outside on the patio because it was very loud with the music in the restaurant.  We then walked around and listened to some of the street musicians.  I really liked the one that was playing folk country music and had a girl that was playing violin and tap dancing. It was late when we got back to the hotel.  On Sunday we got up and went to Biltmore and just relaxed. What a difference between Biltmore and downtown Ashville.  The people were more upscale at Biltmore and everything was beautiful.  Jay took me for the tour of winery, I have never been in the winery for all the time that we have been to Biltmore, probably because I always have CJ and do not like wine.  It was just fun to see how wine was made, but we skipped the wine tasting.  It was a super great relaxing weekend.

The beginning of May we had our last day of Hebrew school. They students did some activities for Israeli Independence Day and a young lady for Israel came and tried to teach the kids for Hebrew slang.  I am not sure that want she was teaching was appropriate was the younger children.  CJ had a lot of fun we ended it with a wonderful potluck.
