November

November stated with us getting ready for our annual trip to Huntington Beach State Park.  The last week before break I think that all the kids and myself were so ready for some time off.  I was glad that we had a dodge ball game the last day so that the kids were able to get some energy out because they were not interesting in learning anything new.  I never really went to the dodge ball games before but this year my homeroom was so large that we were able to make up a team.  I wanted to go anyway just so that I could see CJ play.  She was not one of the kids that throw the ball and got other kids out.  She stood in the back and did not get hit.  Then when the ball came her way she would pick it up and give it to the boys that throw well.  Her class did really well and ended up winning the Championship. I was amazed and so excited for her.  Her whole class got a T-shirt for winning.  It was a good way to end the day.

Friday we got up packed the camper and got ready to go to the beach.  CJ brought her friend Claire with.  It had been a while since the two girls were able to get together because they are both going to different schools.  After listening to Claire talk about her schedule and other things at Palmetto I am glad that I am sending CJ to Glenveiw with me.  I know that she misses her friends from Elementary but I really think that she is being more challenged with the program at Glenview.

The weather was great and we had a nice trip.  I think that CJ and Claire spend to much time in the camper playing on their electronics but I was able to get them out to the beach.  Jay got to do some surf fishing and was not skunked.  I was able to catch some fish and we were able to make fish tacos out of them.
I took the girls to see Atalaya.  The first day that we went it was to late and we were not able to take the tour, so the girls went to the history section and played with the clay and ready all the posters.  As we were ready CJ says, " I got it now!"  I ask what she got and she said. "Why this park it called Huntington Beach.  They named it after Anne and Archer Huntington."  I told her that was right but could not believe after all this time she figured that out.  We have been going to Atalaya and she knows so much about Anne and Archer,  I thought that it was funny that it took her this long to make that connection.

One day we took the girl to Friendly's for lunch.  Claire was happy to have internet at the restaurant.  I thought that it was funny how excited she was over how many new follower she had on Instagram.  I am still glad that CJ does not have social media yet.  I then took the girls to Wonderworks.  I wanted to do something special for them.  I was shocked at the price but we went anyway.  After we got in the door Claire started to have a panic attach thinking that she had tree nuts at the restaurant.  She had to leave and go outside and call her mom.  I was so scared and did not know what to do.  I just spend $60 for us to get into this place and we were having to leave.  I was not sure if I needed to take to to the hospital, she looked fine, was breathing fine, but was saying that she could not breath.  Her mom talked to her and calmed her down.  Her mom told me it was just a panic attach and not to take her to the hospital, she would calm down in a bit.  I have never been so scared and nervous.  She calmed down and we went back in.  Claire and CJ seemed to have a great time after that.  I was on edge for the rest of the camping trip.  While we were in Wonderworks, we saw one of out friends from Williamston.  It was funny that we were all at the beach at the sometime and at the same place.  Wonderworks was a very large children's science museum.  CJ loves science museums and had the best time.  She was so not ready to go when it was time.  CJ had to try to put her had in the ice water on the Titanic exhibit.  She was able to keep her hand in the water longer then the boy that went before her.  She also really loved the large piano, but when it came to the high beam walk she only made it up the stairs before she got to scared and had to come back down.  Claire loved that and walked the whole thing.

When we got back to the campsite we had our low country boil and our friends that we meet last year camping were there and came over to our campsite for dinner.
While we where at dinner we did get some sad news.  Our very good friend, the man that married Jay and I had died.  Paul Chitwood who CJ called PaPa had killed himself.  A couple a weeks earlier Jay had called him and found out that he had a stroke.  He was not happy about losing his ability to play music.  Jay told him that he should take a trip out to see us but he just laughed.  Paul always did things on his terms but we will miss him so much.  CJ took the news very hard and cried for a long time.

After our camping trip we had two weeks of school before Thanksgiving break.  It was a quick two weeks.  The first quarter finished and CJ made Principals Academic Honor roll.  That meant that in all of her GT classes she was able to make all "A's".  I was so proud of her because I know how hard those classes are.

CJ wanted to enter a talent show that was a real competition.  I thought that was a great idea.  She played piano and song Hatikva.  She did an amazing job. She did not miss a notes and her performance was great.  She went last and won 3rd place.  I am so proud of how CJ has no fear of getting up in front of people to perform.  I was surprised by who had won, but the judges were young and I think that affected how they judged the kids.  I was very surprised that one little girl did not even place.  She was very good. CJ won several gift cards.  One of them was a gift card to Krispy kreme.  She gave that card to me so that we could use it for OyVey Cafe.  I was so proud of her for the way that she donated her winning to the temple.

For Thanksgiving we stayed home and it was just the three of us.  It was a very peaceful Thanksgiving and I was so grateful for my family.  CJ and I spent some time cleaning her playroom and getting rid of some of her toys that she does not play with anymore.  We ended up donating her logos to the library for their Logo Club.  We also spent time cleaning out her closet because she has grown so much she has grown out of most of her clothes.  Even the ones I bought her at the beginning of the school year.  Jay got out the new smoker and smoked a wonderful Turkey for us.  It was so good and we had lot of left overs for different dishes.
