That weekend Jay got a chance to go to Gaston for another BBQ competition. Another competitor could not go and give Jay his stop and paid his entry fee. Jay did OK during that competition but did not bring home any prize money. While he was away my assistant principals husband had gone to Wisconsin and brought back some cheese curds to share. Which put CJ and I into a cheese curd craving. CJ and I before we went to temple had dinner at Culver's to give us our Wisconsin cheese curd fix. We texted Jay with pictures of the cheese curds and made him jealous.
Thursday that week a hurricane came through our area. The wind in the morning and the night before was bad and some people lost power so they closed the schools for the hurricane. Our school started this new thing call Elearning so that students do not have to make up days off school. We had to put lessons on line for the students to do. CJ spend all morning working on her lessons. By afternoon the winds and rain had stopped. CJ finished all of her work so we decided to go into Greenville and have a picnic and do some shopping. While we were at the park we saw a while squirrel. We rushed to try and get a picture of it because we had not see a while squirrel before. It was a very nice day for the three of us. I really like this Elearning thing.
That weekend at Roper Mountain science center in Greenville they had Star Wars days. I wake up that morning with a migraine so I was not able to take CJ in the morning. After lunch the migraine had started to go away and I was able to take CJ to Star Wars day. I did not release there was so much to see and do. So we had to pick only a couple of things because we did not have time to see everything and do all the activities. I felt really bad but there was nothing that I could do about it. I told CJ that next year we would make sure that we went early. As soon as we got there CJ's friend Elora from temple was there with her family. So CJ was so happy and followed Elora around. They ran around and had so much fun, but now CJ wants a Chinchilla as a pet.
During this summer while Lydia and Restory were here CJ become interesting in photography. Jay give her his good camera and he traded a medal detector to get himself a good camera. On the second Tuesday of the month I have a meeting so Jay had to pick up CJ. They then went to the park for some daddy/ daughter time. Jay created a challenge for them. There were to take pictures of fall in the park.
Saturday CJ went to her American Girl Club meeting. I am so glad that she is still volunteering at the Museum. During this meeting CJ was able to present Rebecca to the Club. They finely were able to get the Rebecca doll that CJ was able to donate with the money she raise from her Bat Mitzvah. I was so proud of her and I know that she was so happy to have been able to do that. CJ had fun having the girl make edible Sukkah.
CJ joined step team again this year. She loved it so much last year that she could not wait to join again. This year the start of step to was a little drama filled with really bothered CJ so much. One of the students that made the team and was new to the team was causing so much drama telling the older members of the team what to do, thinking that he was going to be captain of the team. At the some time CJ said that he did not even now the steps. It finely got to the point that not only CJ was upset with this up the whole team was and they went to their Coach and asked for him to be taken off the time.
The weekend of the 26th was the Anderson BBQ contest. This would be our last contest of the season. This contest also had all the big boys for the competition world at it. Jay was not sure how he would do but we were going to try our best and hope for the best. It was very cold and rained all day. Jay stated that his toes got so cold that he lost feeling in one of them. For the anything But sweet part of the contest I made a Chocolate cake and strawberry Oreo cookie trifle. I thought that the trifle turned out great and really thought I would at least place. But again we did not place. I took 4th place on my trifle and was beat out by 3 cheese cakes. I think that they were in the mood for cheese cake. Jay was like 7th. He scored in the middle of the pack. It ended up that we would end the year with placing 26th in the state. I did not think that was too bad for only doing 4 contests all year.
After we left the content we went home showered quick and ran to the temple for the Rabbi's installation service. It was a musical history event that was really interesting. CJ's piano teacher played for the event so we could not miss it. She was not happy about the copies of the music that she was given and very upset over her performance. We then left there and CJ changed clothes in the car and we ran to a Halloween Party. We got there around 9:00 but that was ok because the party went late. CJ's best friend was just happy that she made it. The two of them were the only ones that were still in middle school so they really did not hang out with the older kids. The same thing happened last year when they went to Sydney's Halloween party. CJ wanted to be a Zombie and I think that she did a great job with her make up.
Tuesday CJ had offered to volunteer at the museum for the Monster Mash event. I just had to drop CJ off. She had to where a costume that was kids friendly, so she got out her old BB8 costume. It was not as big on her as it was when she was younger and we first made it for her. She had so much fun handing out candy to the little kids. When I picked her up the first thing that she said to me was that she wanted to do that again next year. She also won 3rd place for her costume. I am so glad that she enjoyed volunteering. For Halloween itself we just come home and did not do anything.
