September 2018

September started with a wonderful trip to the beach for labor day. We have never gone to the beach for Labor Day weekend, but glad that we did.  It was very nice.  I could have done with out the no-see-ums biting me and making my feet and legs itch.  We took Chaunessy with us.  She goes every year with us camping and is such a good girl.  CJ and Chaunessy get along so well and it was nice for CJ to spend time with one of her old friends.  The two girls spent most of the time just playing games and watching TV in the camper when they would come back from the beach. Because Jay still did not have a job we really did not do much outside of the camp group.

The high holidays started and CJ sang in the Choir.  For Rosh hashanah we took the day off school for services.  When I got back my sub left me a note stating that he had the most absurd day and my students were not good.  That is just the type of year that I am having at work.  CJ and I had a great day at Temple.  CJ had a lot of fun playing and running around with her friends.  CJ song her famous "Heal Us Now" song that everyone loves.  The sound system was starting to go out so the mic was not working as well as it should so it was harder to hear her this year.

For Yom Kippur we did not take the day off and just went to temple after work.  CJ wanted to fast for the first time.  I packed her some sneaks just in case she could not do it.  I also made arrangements for her to go to the library during her lunch period.  She also wanted to wear her kippah during the school day.  I could not believe how well she did.  She want all day with out eating and did not have any problems.  She was very happy to get to the dinner at the end of services but I was very proud of her.  Me on the other hand, made it thought my fast but then got a migraine and was sick.

That weekend after the High Holidays we had the Maulden BBQ contest.  Jay did not have his friend with him so he let CJ stay with him to help.  Because Jay has not gotten a job yet and we did so well in Maulden last year I was so hoping that we would walk away with prize money but we did not.  Jay stated that he got small butts and made some mistakes with cooking them.  It was OK we learned a lot with that contest.  We had fun just cooking and ran out of pork really fast.

CJ and I were to work a football game.  CJ had to record the game for her news broadcasting class and I had to work the concessions stand.  We got their that it started to rain really hard and they cancelled the game. I think that both CJ and I were happy to go home.  That weekend on Saturday, CJ and I were asked to speak at a girl scout event on being Jewish.  We went and CJ did a great job talking to the little girls.  She even sung two Jewish songs for them.  One little girl thought that was so great and said that CJ needed to be on the "Voice".  I think that were more obsessed with CJ's voice then the song itself.

That Sunday we had our Simchat Torah celebration at temple.  Our friend Ms. Margy came and held the Torah with CJ.  It is funny to think how little CJ was that for a long time she would not even see over the Torah.
Jay got out a ukulele and started to teach CJ some songs.  CJ took to the ukulele and with in a couple of hours was able to play a whole song.  She really liked playing it and picks it up on her own to practice.
