October 2019

At the start of the month.  CJ had to dress in full uniform for ROTC.  She was worried because the shirt that they give her was too big.  She spent the evening learning and shining her shoes.  She looked so sharp in her uniform.  She would not wear her hat for me inside because she said that it was wrong and she was just not going to do it.  When she got to school they did notice that she shirt that they give her was too big and found her another one.  She was so happy because they commented on how shiny her shoes were and she got 100% on her uniform.

On Saturday, CJ was trained to work at the front desk at the museum. She really enjoyed working at the front desk even though she said that she wished that she brought more of her homework because there were times that it was really boring and she could have gotten all of her work completed.  After that, we run to a BBYO event in Greenville.  the event started while CJ was working at the museum so we were late. None of the people at the event were members of the BBYO yet it was just a get together to try and get members.  Since we were late all the girls had already met and were talking. CJ was not comfortable joining in and felt left out.  She even started to cry because she was not comfortable with the other girls.  I told the head of the event that CJ was feeling left out and that she should take them all out to play some games.  She did and CJ was then able to start to talk to the other girls and felt so much better.

Wednesday night was the start of Yom Kippur.  CJ and I ate a big dinner knowing that we would not be eating for the next 24 hours.  We then went to the temple.  CJ was supposed to sing "Heal Us Now" but Rabbi forgot and he forgot that she would not be there for the afternoon service because she could not miss another day of school.  So he told her that he would have her sing it during the evening service.  After school, she ran to the temple so that CJ could sing with the choir.  She was able to do her Solo and then we had a nice dinner.  CJ played with the smaller children.  I should say that she babysat the smaller child.

If felt like that week we were at Temple almost every day.  Sunday was Hebrew school, Tuesday and Wednesday were Yom Kippur and then Friday and Saturday were Elora's Bat Mitzvah.

Elora's Bat Mitzvah was very nice and the party was formal.  Milly came to spend the night at our house so she came with CJ to the Bat Mitzvah.  I think that CJ had more fun because Milly was there.  They danced and had a great time.  About 8:30 they came up to me and told me that they were tired and ready to go home.  So I want and got my purse.  Then I turned around to get them to leave they were gone.  I looked and both of them were back on the dance floor. 30 minutes later we left.

CJ decided that she really wanted her hair cut and get rid of all the green ends of her hair, as well as all the dead ends that were making it hard to brush through.   I took her to the salon and get it done.  The beautician had to thin out her hair so much, she also straightened it.  She looked so much older with it cut.
The day after CJ got her hair cut she left it straightened, but the day after she washed it and left it naturally curly.  Everyone at school thought that she had curled it.  She had to tell them, no that was natural it was the day before that was not.

On the 3rd Saturday CJ had her American Girl Doll club meeting.  She was the only volunteer and had to help with all the kids and tables.  She did such a great job with the kids even though she was so busy. Before we went, CJ wanted to go Halloween shopping.  she wanted to be the phantom for Halloween so we found a costume for her.
Since school started, I have just been miserable.  Jay told me that I just need to think of each day as 20% of the week and look towards each weekend and not focus just on the bad at school.  I started to do that and work on my attitude.  I know that this next weekend I would be seeing Cathy, so it was easy to focus on the weekend.  It worked I really did not have a bad week at work.  I just kept my eye on the prize of the weekend.  I was so excited to see Cathy.  Friday after work I run home and packed the car.  The traffic was so in my favor, we never got stuck it really heavy traffic.  I was so happy to see her and we had such a great weekend.
Saturday we got up had breakfast and were going to go to the NASCAR museum but the price was not worth it so we talked around the town and then went to the New Carolina Museum.  We enjoyed the museum but I think that Jay enjoyed it the most because it reminded him of life growing up in the rural south.   We then went shopping.  I always have the best luck finding clothes when I am shopping with Cathy.  I was able to find some new pants which was great.

For dinner, we went to Dinner's, Driven's, and Dives place. It is funny how every time we go to one of these places what they show on the show is not what they serve.  Those the Soul Rolls that they showed on the show we had and it was very good.  We sat outside and being the weekend before Halloween all the college kids were out in costumes bar hopping.  Cathy and I could not believe how the girls were dressed.  I just laughed so hard at the costumes and Jay being so embarrassed by what he was looking at.  He was so worried about what CJ was seeing.  I told him not to worry so much.  But some of those girls should not have left the house in what they wore.

The next day, we got up the next day and just hung out and had lunch until we had to take them to the airport. It was sad to have to let the go back home.  But having such a great weekend lifted me up to get through another week of school.

For Halloween, CJ wanted to go trick or treating with Millie.  They dressed up as Christen and the Phantom.  They went all over Millie's neighborhoods.  Millie's sister was a blow-up dinosaur. It was so funny watching her try to walk.  We all had a great time laughing and hanging out.
