Even though we have not been able to do much or CJ has not been able to spend much time with friends. Every Tuesday she gets on her computer to meet with her friends for Book Club. Not all of her friends come each week but at least one logs on with her. She is very vigilant about Tuesdays at 7:00 is her book club time. She is very happy when all of her friends come but she is ok when only one shows up. Jay had taken this picture of her reading her book club book sitting silly in her bouncy chair.
Milly is still getting to come over to spend the night. CJ and Milly always try to find something to do but everything is still closed. So the first weekend in October the weather was so nice that we decided to go for a nice hike at Cedar Falls Park. The hike was a 2-mile hike and I had no pain in my hip. It was so nice and a beautiful short hike. The girls were just happy to get out of the house. They stopped and played for a bit at the park as well as enjoying the hike.

The next weekend Jay was going to go Judge a BBQ contest in Ridge Springs which is a small town about 3 hours away. We decided to get a hotel about 30 minutes from the contest and just have a getaway. We even talked about after the contest driving down to the coast and getting a hotel at the beach. The problem was that it was supposed to rain. So we just went to the contest. After work, we drove down to Edge Field and stayed in a hotel there. There was not much for restaurants there so we went to a Chinese restaurant that was taken out only because of COVID. It was not good but we had a nice time just getting out and trying something different. While we were waiting for our food their was a kitten out front of the restaurant that CJ kept trying to get to come to her.

The next morning we got up and went to breakfast at Burger King next door. Jay was very upset because when we walked in no one was wearing masks, so he did not put on his mask. The boy at the counter stated that they would not serve us if we did not put on masks. Jay stated that none of the employees were wearing masks. The manager told the employees that they should put on their masks. Jay did not find it right that if you do not make your employees wear masks correctly you should not force your customers. He was so mad but there was nowhere else to eat.
We got to the contest and there was not much going on. The town was very small but CJ and I walked around, talked to the cookers that we know, when to a cute little coffee shop, and then when the stores opened we went shopping. We really did have a nice time while Jay was busy judging. Some of the stores were so cute.
CJ is doing well in school and enjoying her culinary class. She sent Jay and me a picture of herself during class. It was neat seeing her in her chef coat.
CJ and Milly planned their Halloween costumes and got excited for Halloween. They were not going to go trick or treating with the younger kids because so many places were banning tricker treating. The museum was not even going to do their Halloween event. Halloween was nice because we had such a busy day. CJ had her first Choir practice since the pandemic. They got together in the parking lot just to practice and little and go over how they would do the video choir. It was just nice to see everyone and hear them sing, even though it was so cold.
CJ did volunteer on Halloween and got to wear her costume. She and Milly settled on wearing Goddess costumes this year. Because the girls were not going trick or treating I looked for something for them to do. I found this free event called "Ghosts of Anderson" which was a self-guided tour, where you listen on your phone to information about buildings and ghosts in downtown Anderson. I wished that they would have had a map because I really did not know downtown Anderson and I got very confused on which way to go. But the tour was really neat, there was not much about ghosts but more about the history of Anderson. I really enjoyed the tour and learning about the history of Anderson.
