August 2021

On Sunday, CJ had Choir practice.  Millie had spent the night so she came with the two girls after going to 2nd and Charles to look at books and records.  When I got home Jay and I finished up my new closet and I put all my clothes away.  It looked so good.

Tuesday,  I started at my new job with a new teacher orientation.  After orientation, I was feeling better about changing jobs.  Everyone was so nice and made me feel that I was wanted not that I was easily replaceable.  Wednesday, I took all my stuff over to Marshall to start setting up my classroom.  Ms. Center and Ms. Cothran meet me at the school.  It was very nice working with everyone.  Ms. Centers' 16-year-old daughter was with her and she got along with CJ.  She told CJ about her new job and that CJ should apply.  So CJ applied and got a call right away for an interview at 3:00.  Ms. Centers' daughter was happy for CJ and told her that she would try to work at Spearman with her.  CJ and I thought that was so sweet.  CJ told me after the interview that after the 3rd question that lady stopped and said that she already knew that she was going to hire her but had to finish asking all the questions.  In the end, she offered her the job making $10.25 an hour.  She will be working the after-school program for about 2 hours a day at Palmetto Elementary school.  She is so excited about her new job and kind of glad that she did not get the job at Moon Dog.  She did not even go over the weekend to turn in the Skating Rink application.

The rest of the week I spent working on setting up my classroom and moving things around between the 2 schools I will be working at. Friday CJ went and spent the night at her friend Emma's house so Jay and I went to the school and I had him really help move furniture around.  It really helped me figure things out.

The next week, I was feeling overwhelmed because I did not know anything and could not get into things to finish my work.  Changing districts there were so many things that they do differently and they still had not gotten be access to my IEP or PowerSchool.  I will not even talk about all the new programs that I have to learn or moving my way of thinking too little kids.

Monday CJ had her eye doctor's appointment. There were no real changes in her eyes and she talked to him about contacts.  We have to see a different Doctor for that, so we had to wait a bit.

Jay has been having trouble with his boss at work.  They just have not been getting along for a while.  This has been spilling over into the house.  Jay has been very frustrated and not happy.  By Tuesday when I got home from work Jay was home.  I know at that point he had walked out of his job.  He told me that he had not walked out that he had been called to his big boss's office and he had it out with his boss.  After the confrontation, he was so upset that he took a vacation day for the rest of the day.  He knows that he was going to be fired because he called his boss a liar because he was lying.  Later that afternoon his big boss told him not to come to work on Wednesday until he could talk to HR.  Jay said just give him vacation for the rest of the week. I was very freaked out by this but I know that it would be ok.  We have always gotten through when Jay has quit his jobs.  It was just more stress.

What Jay waited to tell me until after his story about walking out of his job and maybe being fire was that on his way home from walking out of work he got a call from a place in Anderson that wanted to set up an interview.  Jay told them that he was available that afternoon to come in for an interview because he was off work for the day.  He went to the company and they offered him the job making a lot more money than he was making at Allegro.  He said that the job was going to be what he did in the '90s so he knew the work.  The hours were from 6 am to 2 pm and no weekends.  He was so happy about that.  He said that they may have to work overtime but that would only be until 4:00 and not on the weekends.  He said that he was ok with that.  He was very happy about the job.  So Wednesday night when Allegro called and told him that he was officially fired he was ok.  The only problem is that the new job does not start until August 23 so we will have to go 2 weeks without Jay's paycheck.  Jay has been so different since he left Allegro.  He has been so much happier and not snapping so much at CJ and me.  He is back to himself.

The rest of the week I had Jay help me with things around the house. Thursday Jay took CJ to work because it was in the evening and she could not drive at night.  She came home from work and was overwhelmed like me with all the information that she got and all the unanswered questions.

He even took CJ to her doctor's appointment on Friday so that I did not have to take off work.  By Friday,  I was starting to get access to things at work and not feeling so overwhelmed.  CJ's doctor's appointment went well.  She had to get 2 shots and the doctor suggested that because she was having trouble sleeping at night to put some white noise in the room (like a fan) and take Melanoma vitamins.  Jay and CJ then went to Krispy Kreme for breakfast because CJ had to get shots.  They are so silly.  they then came to my classroom in the late afternoon and helped me finish getting it set up.  It was nice to feel that at least my room was mostly finished.

Monday at my Marshall Primary we had meet the teacher.  I get to meet some of my students and in the afternoon I want to Belton for meetings. I had Jay take CJ to her 504 meeting. I joined by phone.  I told Jay that the meeting would be no problem that all they had to do was follow the doctor's orders for the 504.  Tuesday, CJ and I started school, I can not believe that she is starting 11th grade.    CJ said that everything went well that the only trouble was in Chemistry where 2 students from last year gave her a little bit of a hard time.  I told her this year she just needed to stay the cores and ignore them the best that she could.

Two days after school started my aide, Mrs. Cothran, was called to the office her son that gotten sent home from school and she had him tested for COVID.  He had it so she had to quarantine for the next 20 days.  It so was relying on her so I was very worried about how I was going to do with the little ones.  CJ made it through the first week and told me that things got better with the students.  They still bothered her but she was able to ignore them better.  She was also loving her after-school job.  She told me she now understands what I talk about on how the kids just do not listen.

Saturday, CJ drove herself to her American Girl club volunteering and then went to lunch with Millie to see how her first week went.  She really likes that she can drive and go to lunch without her parents.

On Monday CJ started having trouble with her insulin pump.  I got a call from the school nurse while I was at work. The school nurse was very upset about how high CJ's blood sugar was.  CJ told me that she thought her infusion set was not attached because she could smell insulin and it was feeling wet. I told the school nurse to send her home to get a new infusion set.  It is nice that CJ can drive so I do not have to leave school to help with her diabetes.   A couple of days later we would have this same issue.

I was so tired after day after work not because I was frustrated with my job but because I moved and go go go all day long.  CJ and Jay were feeling the same way with their new jobs.  Jay kept saying that he really liked being back on his tools and really making something again.

On Saturday the 28th they had the Williamston Springwater festival.  CJ and I went down to the park.  We went early but it still was very hot.  They did not have as many crafters as they had in the past but we had not been to the festival in years.  We had a nice time walking around and looking at stuff.  I got CJ a Halloween Shirt.  CJ really thought that the live statue of the founder of Williamston was really cool.
