October CJ applied to Prisma's Medex program. Now that she wants to be a doctor this program will help to boost her chances. She had to get letters of recommendation, her school transcript and had a large essay to write. They only pick a couple of students in the state to do the program but I really hope that she gets in.
CJ's favorite coffee shop closed. It was not open very long but on paydays, CJ loved to go to Moondog for a fancy coffee drink and a muffin. She was happy that a new bakery and coffee shop opened and it was on the way to the career center so it was closer. It did not have the fancy blended coffees but it did have some fancy coffee and lots of different baked goods. It was fun because she then could meet her friends Harley who goes to the career center with her at the bakery and they could have breakfast together on paydays.
Millie invited us to family night at TL Hanna to watch her and the band. Millie is the drum major so CJ has been wanted to go watch her for a while. It was a nice evening watching her for a bit and then going to dinner as a family.
CJ is still very anti-Palmetto high school after all the things that went on the past 2 years, so when she told me that she wanted to participate in spirit week I was very surprised. She dressed in Red, White, and blue for America day, dressed in boots and a flannel shirt for Texas day, and dressed like Lydia from Beetle Juice for a dress like as movie star day.

Lydia was telling me about how every year since I started the tradition she takes her girls to the apple orchard to go apple picking. I stopped doing this after I moved to Arizona and have only taken CJ to an apple orchard once in her whole life. I was feeling bad that I started a tradition with Lydia's family that has continued on for years but I did not continue it with my family. So I told CJ to ask a friend and we would go to the apple orchard when she got back from volunteering at the museum. CJ's friend Channecy was able to go with us. We got up there and it was a very nice day. I was so disappointed that there were no apples on the trees. We walked and walked looking for apples. CJ had fun climbing the trees looking for apples but we were only able to find two apples. They had barrels of apples that we could pick from which was good because I spend $20 to pick apples and did not get any apples. I was so not happy. The girls said that they had a lot of fun. I could not believe that I decided to stand in line for apple donuts for over 30 minutes to get donuts that were to be the best I ever had. They were not anything special I guess with a line like that I expected more. Like chunks of apple or a really strong apple taste or something like that. The girls enjoyed their Apple slushy which did have a great apple flavor. I guess that if I am going to take her to the apple orchard to pick apples we will have to do it earlier next year.

Sunday I decided that I would make my great-grandmother perogies. I had gotten the recipe from Aunt Lonarae this summer but had not had a chance to make them. They were not as hard to make as I thought they would be just very time-consuming. It was so just to think that I was making the same recipe that my great-grandmother had taught my mom. My mom had forgotten the recipe but this was what I grow up with when I was young. The whole family said that I could make them again that they were so much better than the frozen ones that I normally buy.

We did not do much the next week. Just getting excited for fall break. My students were going to have a Letterland parade with the Letterland characters from our curriculum. It was so fun the kids love to learn and dress up. ON Thursday we did not have a Halloween dress-up day but what was called a book Character day where all the students at the school were to dress up as their favorite book character. Mrs. Centers class and the other special education teachers all dressed the same because some of her students would not understand dressing up as a book character. We had fun doing another parade.

Friday was an in-service day we CJ did not have school. She did have to work in the morning for the YMCA. She was happy to get the extra hours because she had missed some work one day this pay period. On Saturday, CJ volunteered at the museum for monster mash. For the monster mash, she did not put on her dragon costume and paint her face. She was afraid that it was too much for the kids. So she just dressed like a little red riding hood.

On Sunday CJ went over to Millies to go trick or treating her family. This time CJ did her makeup like a dragon. It was amazing how she was able to do her makeup. I was very impressed. They had fun going around Millie's neighborhood. Jay and I decided that she would go on a date while she was with Millie. We went to Olive Garden and had a nice dinner. There were some hiccups with dinner (rude hostess, seating us at a dirty table), but overall it was very nice. When we picked CJ up she was not ready to go. So we goofed around with Ellinor and Sean for a bit.
