May 2022

We started the month by going to see CJ's afternoon show with the Lister family and then for dinner after the show. CJ had also thanked the Lister Family in the Playbill.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the show.  We then went to Jake's for dinner and were surprised when we saw a sign advertising CJ's show outside of the restaurant.  It was a fun afternoon and evening.

CJ had a very busy week, between having to do an afternoon show for the elementary schools she also had her AP Lititrure test and AP Chemistry test.  After the tests, CJ then did not have to go to those classes so she was on half days.  She liked it because able to come home after Choir and have a hot lunch at home. She made herself a nice lunch each afternoon.

CJ decided that she want contact lenses.  She got the contacts and loved them.  I then ordered them after the doctor had seen her on Friday to check and make sure everything was ok.  When we got the new contacts CJ said that she could not see out of them and we then went into a big mess to try and get her the right contacts. The doctor said that she overcorrected and gave her a new prescription.  After we got the new contacts CJ said that they still did not seem right.  So she did not want to wear them as often.  I was so disappointed after spending over $100 on the contacts and they did not work.

Jay was told at work that he had to go to Louisiana and that he was going to have to leave on Sunday which was Mother's day.  So on Saturday, Jay and I went to see CJ's closing show.  As we watched the show one of the times they went into the audience and talked to one of the parents it was funny because I saw the actor come close to Jay and thought that he was going to pick on Jay.  He did not.  CJ told us later that Potter said that he was going to come up to her dad and get him to stand up.  CJ told him not to because her dad is really stubborn and does not do it.  She saved Jay.  Jay said after the show he would have participated and would have done a good Elvis impression just to make the show more silly. CJ was glad that the last show was finished and life would get back to normal.  I think she was just happy to be back to working and making money.

Sunday we got up and packed the car with Jay stuff we then went to lunch at Calver's for mother's day.  I was surprised on how busy it was but I guess that we all love Calver's.  We got Jay to the airport and he had no problems with TSA.  Poor Jay he had not flown since before 9/11 so he was not sure about all the TSA regulations and changes at airports that have been in place for the last 20 or so years.  CJ and I went for Boba at the White Rabbit and just had a nice girls evening.
Jay had a miserable time in Lausiana.  When he got there he did not have a rental car and had to get an Uber.  He was not happy about having to download the app on his phone and he said that driver was not professional.  He said that he was blaring his music that had cursing and he was so sick for his driving by the time they got to the hotel.  He then said that the next day he had trouble getting an Uber to take him to the plant. He then was telling us that he was not working in airconditioning and it was 100 degrees out.  He said that if it could go wrong it was going wrong.  He was getting worried that he would not be making it home by Thursday for CJ's Choirs concert.  We just keep praying that he would make it home.

CJ made Junior Marshall so we had to find her a white dress to wear.  We looked all over and could not find anything so I ordered a dress on line.  On Wednesday it can it and was not the dress I ordered.  It was not cotton it was polyester, thin so you could see through it, did not have pockets, and looked really bad.  So Wednesday not we returned the dress to Walmart where I ordered it through and headed to the mall in Greenville to try and find a dress.  We had such a hard time finding a dress that was white.  While we where at the Mall Jay called and told us that he was going to come home in the morning.
He had a flight out for 6:00 in the morning.  CJ told him that she would pick him up as soon as she was done with school.  He was going to get it at 11:30 and she got done at 11:00 by the time he was off the plane she would be there. This was so great since CJ's concert was that night.  I would be making it home just in time.

We found CJ a beautiful dress in a store we had never shopped in before. It was called Dry Goods and when we walked it we thought that everything was going to be super expensive.  There where somethings that were pricy and her dress was not on sale but I was tired and the dress was super cute so I did not care how much it cost.  The sales rake had really good prices and cute stuff.  So we decided that another day we would come back and look at the sales rakes.

Thursday, Jay got home.  He was so worried about CJ driving to the airport to pick him up.  He worries about her driving Highway 85 through Greenville.  But she did well and had no problems picking him up.  They then went to lunch together and came home so Jay could unpack.  He found that his hotel room had bed bugs so he was all bit up and miserable.  He had to leave all of his luggage outside so that if there were still bugs they would not come in the house.  His whole trip was just full of challenges, but he was so glad to be home and not missing CJ's concert.

CJ concert was very interesting.  I could not believe that her teacher stopped the concert because a child was making noise.  It was almost rude to the parents.  He also dedicated one song to his husband.  I guess I just come from a different generation were teachers that are guy do not announce it.  We all know it but to was never confirmed special to parents.  The concert was good and CJ's in front of the curtian show was amazing.  It was funny because CJ started singing and the lady next to me all the sudden sat up and turned to the lady next to her and said wow.  Then she got out her cell phone and started to record CJ's song.  I did not know the lady and she did not know CJ.  It made me so proud of my baby that a strange thought she was so good that she had to record her.  After the concert other came up to her to tell her how good she song was.  One guy can up to her and said that he was a John Denver fan and it was so nice to hear someone sing "Leaving on a Jet Plane" so well.  I was so beeming with pride.

The weekend after Mother's Day was always Pig in the Park BBQ contest and this year they started it up again.  I let CJ take the day off of school to help her dad set up and run to get things that he may have forgotten.  I came right after work.  When I got there they had everything done and even the cooks meeting was over.  I could not believe that they did the cooks meeting so early.  The evening was very relaxed and we helped Jay with went we could.  Because of all the trouble that he had in Clemson with the meat taking so long to cook he wanted to get the meat on early.  So CJ and I went home to get some sleep.

Jay said that the meat was done and come off around 3 in the morning which was so early so he tried to lay down and rest.  The next morning we got there and set up for serving.  Serving went well and we run out of meat really fast.  There were a lot of people that came. I was so surprised because the last couple of times before COVID people did not show up to Pig in the Park.  We did not do well and only scored 7th which was very disappointing because Jay has been wanting to quit and this did not help.
That night CJ had her Miss Horseshoe show.  This was show was to be a spoof on beauty pagents.  It was to be for girls that would never be in a real beauty pagent and it was to be funny.  They had an 80's theme to the show.  It was very funny and CJ played an 80's rebel biker girl.  Like her mom was in school during the 80's.  It was cute because she was not sure how to do her hair for the show so I told her just to go look it my old yearbooks.  She told me that she really did not need to do much with her hair just not put product in it to keep it down.  Though she did notice that everyone had bangs.  She played her part so well.  She song "Summer of 69" for the talent part but Jay forgot to hit record on the phone so we never got the video of the song.  CJ said that was ok because she had missed a note.  I never noticed that.  At the end of the show the winners were the popular girls that had been in the Miss Palmetto Beauty Pagent so it was disappointing.  I told Jay that I think that if you where in Miss Palmetto which was a real pagent you should not be able to be in Miss Horseshoe because this was suppose to be for girls that would never be in a really pagent so they could make fun of pagents.  Jay said that it just seemed like this was another show for those same popular people to show off. I just enjoyed seeing CJ perform again.

The next week we started state testing at my work.  I had to be at Belton all day.  It was nice to be at just one school all day.  I rode my motorcycle and everyone was surprised to see that I rode motorcycles.  Testing are always long days.  But on Elinor had asked if we all wanted to get together on Wednesday for dinner and go see the new Downton Abby movie.  I was so up for it.  I met Elinor at her house and we went to dinner at Tucker's.  Some of the ladies that went where teachers at Cresent High school and I did not know that.  I was glad that I rode with Elinor so that I did not feel weird walking it and not knowing anyone.  It was a fun night with the lady's and I had taken my motorcycle to Elinor's house so it was a very nice ride home and so good to be back on the motorcyle.
Friday, CJ had her first Junior Marshall event.  They had awares day at the school for the senoirs and CJ had to Marshall the event.  She was telling me that it was a mess.  No one gave them direction on want to do and then the principals forgot to give some awares which upset parents.  As a Marshall CJ had to deal with all of that.

Over the weekend they had canceled the American Girl club so CJ did not have to go to Anderson.  The little neighbor girl saw that CJ was home and came over.  CJ is so good with her.  She is very hyper and keeps CJ going.  CJ had fun playing dress up with her and doing crafts.
As the last week of the month rapped up and CJ got ready to Marshell graduation she only had school on Monday and Tuesday.  I let her take Wednesday off of school just because 2 of her classes where already done and they where not doing anything in her other classes.  Thursday was graduation practice and CJ said it was just as disorganized as the awards day.  She said that she was told there would be a bus to Clemson so that she did not have to drive to the practice but when she got to school on Thursday they said that there was not a bus and that she had to drive.  She said that Friday for graduation as a little better but the Marshalls still where not told where they needed to be and do.  She said that her and her friend Harley had fun just goofing around.  She said that the speeches where good and it was fun to see some of her career center teachers.

After CJ got done with work on Friday we went to meet Jay at Croft state park for a relaxing camping weekend.  Croft had cleaned up the campground a lot since the last time we were there.  It was so nice and we had a beautiful view of the lake.  Before I left work that day I was asked if I wanted to take the full time Lab position at Belton.  I was worried about some of the behaviors in that class because it is a multi-categorical classroom with students with all kinds of disabilities.  I am not good with kids with behavioral needs but this was a chance to be at one school.  I really love the teachers at Marshall but my aide and the special education department at Marshall had pretty much quit talking to be and I felt as if they where shunning me.  I am not sure if it was because I went on the PD trip to Georgia or because they where just mad at me for something I said.  They just would not talk to me.  So over the weekend I really needed to think about if I wanted to be at one school.  We did not do much at the campground but enjoyed the peace and quiet.  The wild life was very friendly and CJ and Jay got to hand feed the squirals.  CJ and I went for a bike ride and I was so tired after trying to ride that I jumped off the bike and just sat down on the ground to catch my breath.  When I set down I did not release that I sat on an ant hill.  So I ended up with some ant bites on my bottom.  We all needed that get away.  Jay bought a new game for us to play and we had so much family fun.  Jay did a lot of fishing but only caught one large fish all weekend.  He said that at least he was not skunked.

Monday we came home and cleaned up from our trip.  On Tuesday when I went back to work I talked to Mrs. Blalock about taking the job at Belton.  She told me that she understood that being at one place is what I needed.  I then called and took the job at Belton. Next year I will just be at Belton in the Lab classroom.  I am very nervous about it and excited about being at one school. Tuesday I was at Marshall all day so I spent the day packing and then Jay came and we moved all of my stuff that night over to Belton. So it felt so official.
