June 2022

I never sent CJ back to school after Memorial Day.  I was glad that I did not.  She stayed home and then in the afternoon went to work.  Since the last couple of days were half days she had to work at 10:30 so it worked out well for her.  They there not doing anything in her classes anyways after graduation.  On one of the days, I got a robocall from the school stating that some of the schools in the district received bomb/shooting threats.  These threats and school shootings are almost becoming common thing these days.  That is so sad but when we do not teach our children the value of human life this will happen.

Thursday, I went to the closing end-of-the-year lunch for Marshall.  The special education department did not even have me sit with them.  I felt like they were excluding me.  It was ok I sat with my 1st-grade teachers and they were happy to welcome me.  I was very sad that I would be leaving them.  The 1st and 2nd-grade teachers at Marshall are so wonderful.  It was nice to have everyone telling me how much they will miss me.  On Friday I spend the morning at Belton getting to know my new aide and thinking about how I was going to plan to set my new classroom back up again.  We then had our end-of-the-year celebration at BHP and then we were done for the year.

On Saturday, CJ got together with her friends to go Skating and out for Boba.  While she was gone Jay had made a deal with a guy at work to buy his motorcycle for CJ.  It was a Suzuki Boulevard and we did get a good deal on the bike.  Jay and I went to Greenville and test-drove it.  I thought that it was an easy bike to drive.  I was worried that it was going to be too big for a first bike but Jay said that it should be fine.  After driving it, I found that it was easy to manage so I thought that it would work.  We brought it home and thought that it would be fun to give it to her in front of her friends.  She was so excited but her friends did not understand want was going on and had no response to her gift.  CJ on the other hand was so excited and could not believe that her parents got her a motorcycle.

On Monday we spent the day getting the bike registered and insured.  We decided to put the bike and everything in CJ's name.  Jay was worried because he was not sure if you could put a vehicle in a minor's name but we had no problems.  That afternoon we went to lunch with Beth and Lori.  It was nice to see them and laugh at all the gossip from Glenview.  I am so glad that I left that school.  Now all of us have left that school.

On Tuesday, I went to Cresent High school to help out one of Elinor's teachers with the Read 180 program.  I love Read 180 and it felt so good to help out a teacher with the program.  I hope that she uses the program because it is so great.  She seemed to really want to do the program to fidelity.

Wednesday I had to work.  I had an IEP meeting that morning that did not get done during the school year.  I had part of the IEP completed but I was told that the student may not qualify so I had not finished it.  I also needed to go up to the school because some paperwork was misplaced and I had to redue it.

In the afternoon we met up with Jay and turned in all of our paperwork for getting passports.  I was surprised by how quick the process was to get the passports.  The problem that Jay and I had was the information about our fathers.  They needed their birthdays and it was not on our birthday certificates so we had trouble with that information.

Thursday, I made an appointment to have my hair done.  I wanted to cut short and color blonde.  That morning CJ made me a wonderful breakfast.  She wanted to make a low Carb breakfast treat. I then went to the hairdresser.  I was there from 9:00 to 1:00.  When I left I was very upset.  I hated my new haircut and color.  I thought the color looked gray, not blonde and she had to do the color twice.  The cut did not make me look younger or look nice.  I was so disappointed.  I came home and Jay did not say that looked nice.  He tried to be diplomatic by saying that it was different.  I tried straightening in and leaving it curly to see if it would look ok.  It looked better curly but it was still not good.  It took me so long to decide to have my hair done that it was disappointing to have it look so bad.  I just went to go to the beauty parlor just once and come out saying wow that looks great.

On Friday CJ went to Millies for the night because the next day she was going to retake the ACT test.  So Jay and I went to the movies.  We went and saw "Top Gun"  it was a good movie to see in the theater.  It was a good guy movie.  But it was nice to have a fun date with Jay.  After we left the theater I noticed that I did not have my keys to the bike.  We went back to the theater and I could not find them anywhere.  We finely decided to go home and get the spare key.  I got on the back of Jay's bike and we rode home.  He thought that it was great to have me on the back of his bike because I never have been.  I on the other hand was very nervous about someone else driving.  By the time we got back to the theater, they had found my keys.  At the time I just wanted to go home.
CJ took the ACT and I was so happy to find out that Lori was her proctor for the test.  I know that she would be more relaxed.  She was upset that she did not have extra time because she knew that she would do so much better if she had extra time to think about her answers.
The next morning CJ and I got up very early and started our trip to see Ms. Margy.  We wanted to stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast but we forgot that it was Sunday, so we got a snack and decided to wait until we got to Virginia and have breakfast at Hardee's with CJ's Uncle Ronny.  Got did really well with time and got to Virginia around 10:30.  We had a nice breakfast with Ron which was surprising.  CJ was glad to see her uncle.

We then drove the rest of the way.  CJ wanted to drive for a while so I let her drive. When I gave her the wheel the weather was great and the traffic was mild.  So I closed my eyes for a minute.  The next thing I knew it was raining so hard and hard to see the road.  CJ did great trying to drive through the bad weather.  By the time we got to Ms. Margy's, the bed weather was over.  Ms. Margy was so excited to see us and had dinner ready for us. She wanted us to eat first before we even brought our stuff upstairs.  We had a nice evening talking and sharing.  The next day Ms. Margy needed to go to the post office and shopping so we spent the day shopping.  I was able to take her out to lunch but she wanted to cook us dinner.  She is so funny how she has to cook for us and clean up.  She will not let us do anything.  I feel so bad because her health is not good and at 92 years old she should not be doing so much. We decided to leave on Tuesday so that Ms. Margy could rest.  We did not leave until late in the afternoon so we had all morning to goof around.  I talked her into letting me pick up Chinese for lunch.

We then drove over to my Aunt Lonarae's house.  She only leave about 2 hours away from Ms. Margy.  We had a great evening and talked about the morning going to see Gettysburg instead of going to the amusement park.  Aunt Lonarae made my favorite dinner.  She made a pot roast with mashed potatoes and peas.  We then decided to watch the movie Gettysburg so that we kind of know what we were going to see the next day.

We go to Gettysburg and decided that we would see the museum first and then do the driving self-guided tour of the battleground.  The museum was so big.  CJ loved it.  She really liked that the artifacts were from real famous people.  We then went to the battlefield.  It was really neat and you could picture the events.  It was very hot and we were very tired. After a while, we did not get out at every site.  We decided that if we did this again we would do the battlefield first when it was cool and then do the museum.  It was so neat to say that I was at the site where the Gettysburg address was said by President Lincon.  I also liked the fact that they did not make the South out to be the bad guys just that both sides had different points of view.  One side wanted to be separate States that were independent with their own rules and the other side wanted to be united with common laws and rules.  We just loved it and I told CJ when she takes US History this next semester she will have a good understanding of the significates of  Gettysburg in the Civil War.

The next day we got up had breakfast and packed up.  We then just relaxed and talked.  We stayed for lunch and then left right after lunch.  Aunt Lonarae asked if we wanted to stay another day but because CJ had to volunteer at the museum on Saturday I thought that it was best if we headed home.  I also wanted to stop in Charolette to look at clothes for CJ.  CJ needed nice office clothes for Medex.  I had canceled my doctor's appointment for Friday so that we could shop on Friday.  We started to drive home and the GPS took us through back roads that were very beautiful.  I was just glad that I did not need gas because there was no place to stop.  It was just farm country.  We then ran into a bad rainstorm again.  I had asked Jay to get us a hotel in Virginia so that I did not have to drive all night to get home and we could shop the next day.  We made it to Virginia to have ice cream with Ron.  I told CJ we would just have dinner in the room.

The next day we got up had breakfast at the hotel and started driving home.  We got to Charlotte just as the mall opened.  We did not find much and the shop that I wanted to take CJ to was no longer there.  So we went to IKEA for lunch and shopping for household things.  CJ wanted this shoe rake for her closet but there were out of them.  I am a big one for checking to discount/ scratch and dent.  There we found the shoe rake that she wanted and it was cheaper because it was a discounted display model.  We were so happy. On the way home, we stopped to pick up dinner.  While we were at the light the stop light fell down right in front of us.   It was scary.  We were able to drive around the broken lights but other drivers were not.  The police and fire trucks came really fast.  It was such a weird thing. We then drove home and were glad to be home.
The next day I had CJ try on all of the clothes that Ms. Margy had given her.  I was so glad that there were so any pants that fit and would be great for Medex.  I did not need to worry about getting her any more pants.  She also found a pair of Jeans that she was reluctant to try on because they were 3 sizes to small and had flared bottoms.  She tried them on and they fit.  The flare also looked great on CJ, making her look thinner.  She decided that these were her new favorite Jeans.

She had to volunteer at the museum and she said that there were lots of girls. I dropped her off so that I could run and have Jay's Father's day gift made.  We decided to get Adventures In Smoke shirts made for him.  Millie came to pick CJ up for lunch.  CJ then had to volunteer at the front desk for the rest of the afternoon.  They were having Harry Potter day at the museum so Millie came back with her siblings. They all had a fun afternoon.

Sunday was Father's Day.  All-day CJ wanted to give Jay his gifts.  I told her had to wait until dinner.  Jay wanted to cook ribs for dinner so I could not do much to help him.  Smoking is not my thing.  He was very surprised by the shirts and I think that he liked them.  Sometimes I really can not tell with Jay. We also got him a heat lamp to keep his BBQ warm.  I do not think that he liked that gift because he did not react at all but questioned why we got that.  I thought that it was a great gift for his BBQ stuff and a great idea for keeping his BBQ wear while he was building his box.  Sometimes we do well with gift-giving sometimes not so well.  I am glad that the heat lamp was not the only gift we gave him.

The next week we spent the first 2 days working on deep cleaning CJ's office and bedroom.  She took out so much trash and a car full of stuff to Goodwill.  It felt so good to get rid of stuff and clean out the downstairs closet.  I even finely got read of the leather pants that there size 3 that I have been holding onto forever.  It just had to go.

Wednesday I took CJ to get her Senior pictures for the yearbook done.  We had to go to Greer to get them done because the day that they were coming to Palmetto High school CJ was going to be at Medex.  The people in the office were so nice.  We then went to JC Pennies and had her birthday pictures done.  We had a different lady do the pictures and I was not happy with them.  She did not really do much special that made me just have to have that picture.  So I go the basic and that was it.  I figure we will be getting her Senior pictures this year with her cap and gown later so I did not want to spend too much money anyway.  I loved how beautiful she looked in her white dress this year.

Thursday we went to my school and started to unpack boxes.  Morgan my new aide came with us and brought her daughter.  CJ got along with her daughter great and we got a lot done.  We then went to lunch together and over to Morgan's house to go swimming.  CJ and Morgan's daughter talked the whole time.  CJ said it was kind of fun mentoring a Freshman and giving her advice about High school.

Friday we went to Shabbat services.  It had been a while since we went.  CJ got overwhelmed during services because she was thinking about his being her last year and having to be an adult in one year.  On the way home, we talked about how she was not going to have to be an adult as soon as she graduated from high school and that we were still going to help her out.  She was worried about so many things, so we talked about all the things that I will still be taking care of like her insurance.  Another thing that bothered her was that she wanted to start going back to Temple.  That she did not care about the others at the temple or the Rabbi.  That this temple had been hers since she was one year old and if she goes off to college this would be her last year attending the temple of her childhood.  By the time we got home, she was feeling much better and we had planned to go to Temple every Friday again.

We were invited to a Bat Mitzvah Saturday night.  We went to the Bat Mitzvah and CJ had a nice time talking with old friends. I was able to talk to some people as well about my feelings about the temple and started to feel better about our decision to come back to services.

On Sunday Beth Isreal was holding a blood drive so Jay and I went to give blood.  Again I was not able to give blood and my arm over a week will be all bruised up.  Jay said that I should just stop trying to give blood it is not working.

Monday, I took CJ for her TB test.  While we were at the doctor's office he said that she needed her meningitis vaccine 2nd shot and flu shot.  She said that her arms hurt.  Tuesday I let her sleep in and I went up to the school to start putting more stuff away.  When I got home she said that she was not feeling the best so I gave her some Tylenol.  I am sharing that it was from all the shots that she had the day before. CJ and I had to go to the dentist that afternoon. We both go good reports and no cavities this time.

Wednesday we ran to get CJ's TB test checked and then ran home so that she could upload everything.  She got her test uploaded to MedEx she then a little while later got an email stating that she needed 2 tests. She started to panic.  I called and found that Prisma Urgent care did TB tests.  So I ran CJ up there and we sat and wanted for the test.  I told CJ we would get it checked by Friday and she could get all of her stuff uploaded before she left for Camp.

Thursday, we got up and I took CJ to take her Motorcycle test.   CJ came out of the test and she had not passed.  She was very upset. This was the first test she has ever failed.  The lady was very kind and told CJ that she could come back tomorrow and try again.  CJ said that there were all kinds of questions on the test about trikes.  I told her that we would download that Manual from the DMV and she could study that instead of doing just the sample tests online. She was so upset until she got the email stating that she was going to be a CIT at camp Sweet escape and needed to be at camp a day early for training.  I do not think that anything could get her down after that.  She started packing and getting excited to go to camp.  She then started studying for her motorcycle test. She said that there was a lot more stuff in the handbook than what was on the sample test. I also took her out on my motorcycle to show her where things were on the bike to help her with the test.
