Camp Waback

Very busy week, Monday we went to story time and then Tuesday we went to the movies, then had CJ’s 6 year old pictures done, and last we went to the library for a special presentation on Japan. CJ was able to make a paper bird, learn to count to 10 in Japanese, and paint the word moon. During her pictures CJ had fun and was such a poser and gave the biggest smiles.

Friday we went to Girl Scout camp for a mother daughter camp weekend. Two other of the mother’s from our trip took their girls to. We had such a good time. We all rode up to Camp Waback together. I was really worried about the weekend because I started off the trip with a migraine and Julie started with a bad cold coming on. We got about half way there and stopped to feed the children at McDonalds. While the children were playing CJ slipped on the stairs and hit her face. Her glasses were crushed and I know that she was going to have a black eye. I put ice on her eye right away and get her to stop crying. She was off and running again quickly with her friends. Luckily we were right across the street from Wal-mart, so after dinner we ran over there to get CJ’s glasses fixed. We got to the camp and checked in, because we were so early we got to pick our cabin. We had one that had air conditioning and bathrooms right in the cabin. All the girls wanted the top bunk of the bunk beds. CJ climbed up to the top bunk and then could not or would not get back down. We tried everything to get her to come back down. I even had the other girls try to show her, I tried to show her, Julie Keys tried to get her to come down, finely after all the screaming and trying to get her down I climbed up and pulled her down. We decided that she was not to go up to the top bunk again and she would sleep on the bottom bunk. It had rained so we were not able to have a bon fire. All the campers got together in the main hall and had to put on a skit and sing lots of songs. I could not believe that we had to make up a skit to do in front of everyone. I was so glad the Julie is so creative; we would have been lost with out her. Some of the girls were very traumatized by having to go up on the stage, but CJ did every well and did her part well.

The singing On Friday night seemed to go on over a very long time. CJ was so very tired, but she was going to stay up until they had the s’mores. The next day I wake up before everyone and went for a walk, later I would find out that the trail I was on had been closed because of a yellow jacket nest. I was very glad that I did not know that. After everyone else got up we went to the dining hall. I forgot how out of shape I was and how far away everything was to walk to. Breakfast was good and we started our activities for the day. We did art, canoeing and fishing (I even put the worm on CJ’s hook myself and it was so gross), we then went for a hike up the mountain, and last was a hike in the creek.

When we were hiking to lunch the steps were wet and I slipped and fell. I was ok on real damage. Later when I was telling the story of the fall to people I said that I must have fallen because I was wearing tennis shoes and not high heels. So CJ picked up and was telling everyone that I only fell because I was not wearing high heels. I love how she picks up the things I say.

This was the best mom daughter weekend. I can not wait until next years trip.
