Spring Break

We have had a fun couple of weeks.  On Thursday before spring break CJ had her induction ceremony for BETA club.  I learned that it was not just a club that teachers students the value of volunteering in a community but also leadership.  On Friday CJ and I got ready to go to Florida.  Both of us had never been to Florida and I was just as excited as CJ to go and see Cathy.  We packed food so that we would not have to spend much money and set the alarm for very early.

We got up at 4 in the morning pack the car and were on the road by 5.  CJ was sleepy but she was very good about getting up so early.  The drive down was not as bad as I thought it would be.  I was so glad that we got up so early.  As we started to get to close to the hotel, CJ started to make fun noises of excitement in the back of the car.  She had her camera out and was taking all kinds of pictures of what she saw on the road.  As we got to the hotel it was very busy they were having a cheerleading national computation, so there were children everywhere.  As we got settled in we walked around the hotel and Disney Board walk.  The Hotel was amazing and because we got there around 3 there was another time to still do something.  CJ of core wanted to go swimming right away in the pool with the water fall.  I thought that it was still too cold but she really wanted to go.  So off to the pool we want.  Cathy and I sat and talked and CJ swam.  We all had a great time.

Darrell had an old friend from the military that lived in Florida that wanted to meet him and Cathy for dinner.  So they were going to go to dinner and CJ and I were going to stay back at the hotel, but Darrell’s Friend asked us to go to dinner as well.  So we all went.  It was late and the dinner was at a grown-up pub.  I was share that CJ was going to get tired and start getting winey, but she did not.  She was so well behaved and did not ask for anything extra.  It was a very nice dinner and CJ was so mature, but at the end she was ready to just fall asleep in the booth.

The next day Julie our old Girl Scout leader that moved to Florida came to meet us.  Her brother works at Disney and wanted to get us tickets.  She told us that she was not going to be able to get us tickets to magic kingdom but maybe to one of the other parks.  CJ wanted to go to Universal, but never really said much.  She said that she would be happy with any of the parks if she even got to go.  We got to go to Epcot.  Secretly that was the park that I wanted to go to, because I have always seen the picture of it on TV.  CJ was just so happy to get to go to Disney and see Julie.  The first thing that she said that she wanted to do was ride rides.  So that is what we did.  Julie was like having our own personal tour guide to Epcot.  She knew all the rides and how to get on some of them quicker.  We did spend a lot of time in lines waiting to get on rides, but that was ok we all had so much fun.  Epcot was made for teachers.  It was very much an educational and technology park.  The weather was great not to hot not cold.  It was nice catching up with Julie and I so happy for her new life and excited for her future.  CJ was so spoiled she never asked for anything and even said that we can get souvenirs not at Disney but at Target were it would be cheaper.  Because she did not for anything and was so well behaved minding all of her manners, Julie spoiled her, getting her ice cream, a parasol, and even a stuffed Figment.  CJ fell in love with the character Figment for the Epcot ride Figment of Imagination.  This character was a dragon.  Words could not describe what a great day we had and how grateful I was to everyone for helping to give CJ an experience of a life time.

The next day was our last and all CJ wanted to do was go swimming.  So we took her swimming all afternoon. She even got brave and went down the water slide.  After she the first time it was over she found out how fun it was.  She went down the slide over and over again.  For dinner that night we went to one of the very nice restaurants.  CJ said that her stomach hurt and started to cry.  She would not stop crying and I was not sure what was really wrong with her.  So I told her that if she stop crying and started to feel better I would get her an ice cream at the ice cream parlor that was in the hotel.  She stopped crying and started playing with her new toys.

The next day we got up and packed to go.  After Cathy and Darrell got on in the taxi to go CJ and I walked to the car and left to.  I wanted to cry when we were saying goodbye and CJ keep telling her that I could not cry because Aunt Cathy said no crying we will see each other soon.  I have such a great child.  I so enjoy being with her.  As we left CJ wanted to go home the way of Gray, GA so that we could stop and have a late lunch with her brother.  So I set the GPS and we were off.  The problem was that the GPS took us on a toll ride and I had no cash.  I was so worried and CJ keep telling me that everything so going to be ok.  It was the lady at the toll both just gave me a slip and told me to mail it in within 10 days with my payment.  I did that as soon as I got home.

We stopped in GA and went to the Dairy Queen with Garrett.  CJ was so happy to see her brother and had to sit next to him at the table.  The rest of the drive home I was not sure if I was going to make it.  I was just so tired, but we pushed on.  After we got home we all went for our 2 mile walk with Jay.  It was nice to be out of the car and walking.

While I was in Florida I did not watch what I eat and just had a good time forgetting about my healthy eating diet.  That was I think a mistake, because that night I got my first migraine in 3 months.  What made this so bad was that that morning we had to get up and were going to Carowinds amusement park with my friend Shane.  I took a lot of meds to stop throwing up because I did not want to take this away from CJ and I had already paid for the tickets.

We made it to Carowinds and CJ had so much fun.  She got to ride lots of rides.  I was surprised how much more expensive it was there than at Disney.  The food there was also not as healthy.  I fed CJ a greasy corndog but I did not eat until we left at 9:00 at night.  CJ loved the roller coasters, specially the wood coaster that they had.  She did not like the upside down loop coaster as much.  She said that was because with her glasses on it felt like her nose and glasses were going to break.  After we left Carowinds we went to eat at Applebees and then to the hotel.  The hotel was very nice and had a pool so the next morning the kids all got to go swimming.  We then packed up and headed to IKEA to shop.  I really want to take Jay there.  IKEA is a home store and I think that Jay would enjoy shopping there.  CJ thought it was fun to look at all the stuff and I got her some drinking glasses for her American Girl doll.  She also liked having lunch there.

We came home and on Friday we just rested.  It was such a busy week that we had to get the house clean and laundry done.  On Saturday, it was the 2nd Sedar for Passover.  I am still not comfortable having   a Sedar at my house so we went to the one at temple.  This year it was very nice and the food was really good.  CJ like always lately was very good around all the adults.

Spring break was over and it was back to work.  CJ’s dance costume did not fit her so we had to take it to dance and they were going to have to try to let it out some.  I was really not happy about it and CJ was a good sport.  CJ did say that it was really pinching her skin.  On Tuesday it was time of Girl Scouts, we went to the thinking day event and got to learn about different countries.  I was glad that we did not do a board this year but CJ said that she would like to do one again.

On Sunday with had our 7th annual Shalomfest, I had CJ volunteer for the first two hours so that she could get her Beta club time.  She kept coming to me and asking if she could just go play and I kept having to tell her just a little bit more.  One of the ladies was doing face painting and CJ was able to get her face painted for free to help advertise the face painting.  CJ loved it. Her whole face was painted.  After the first two hours, I let CJ go and play.  She spent the rest of the time playing in the bouncy houses.

When we got home Uncle Tom come for the night.  CJ did not want to wash her face until Uncle Tom got to see it.  We had dinner and all went off the bed after such a busy day.  Uncle Tom asked if during the summer if he could come and take CJ for a week.  We will have to wait and see on that one.  I am not sure if I want to be without her for a week.

This week we are getting back into our retain and I think that I am going to be glad when school is out and we can relax a little.
