March

March came and we ventured into trying to cook new things. Cherry wood smoked beef sausages on the Weber. CJ and Jay broke in the new sausage stuffer today the Jay bought with his birthday gift card. The sausage was pretty good.  We also made meatballs out of the extra.  Jay said that they would have turned out better if he would have used fresh seasoning instead of spices that had been in the cabinet for years. They then tried homemade spaghetti noodles.  It was messy and we were not sure what we were doing but it was a fun adventure.

One Sunday CJ just started running a fever.  She did not want to leave Choir practice or Hebrew School but she was so not felling well that we left.  She stopped singing and that is when I know she was really sick.  Monday when she was still running a fever I took her to the doctor.  They took tests for strep and the flue. She did not have either and the doctor was not sure what was wrong, so they sent her home some antibiotics.  The fever never went down and started to get worse as the week went on. I took Monday and Tuesday off work and Jay had to take the rest of the week off work.  CJ was very upset that she missed her spring sing on Thursday which she was to have a sole introduction part and a field trip. Thursday Jay took CJ back to the doctor.  They run more tests and x-rays.  It was found that she had pneumonia.  They had to give her shots and more antibiotics to take at home. It was very scary not knowing what was wrong with her and then finding out how sick she really was.  She ended up having to have two injections, 3 different antibiotics, and missing a whole week of school.

By Saturday CJ was feeling better so we went to the American Girl Club meeting. They were featuring Rebecca, so the director of the Museum asks me if I could bring some items. CJ also wanted me to bring snack for everyone. So I made 78 Hamantaschen and picked up some Matzah, because in the book Rebecca talks about having to have Matzah sandwiches during Passover. CJ was quiet and moving slow during the meeting but very happy to be up and out of the house.

All week with CJ being so sick, she was worried that she would not be better for the Purim carnival.  We had worked so hard on her costume and she was so excited about being BB8 from Star Wars.  This year Star Wars was the theme for Purim. CJ was the only BB8. Her costume turned out great.  Jay even had it so that she could turn it when she walked so that it looked like she was rolling.  I told her to take it easy during the carnival so that she did not wear herself out.  She wore herself out and could not make it to Choir practice, but she had a really good time. She came home and took a 2 hour nap.
