At the start of Spring Break, I friend of mine
and I have been talking for years about going to Fairfield County and doing
some Family history research. It was
going to be a long day so CJ brought a friend to keep her company. CJ and her
Friend were bored to death but they were good sports about it. They played
games on the ipad and helped pull some files for us. We started the day at the Fairfield museum
and looked though many books on the Kincaid family, then to Old Brick Church
where just about all of the Kincaid family is buried. We ended our time by going to the original
Kincaid house build in 1775 by Captain James Kincaid. We did not get to go in
the house because the family was not home.
I was able to take lots of pictures of the outside. I cannot believe it
is still standing and so beautiful. I learned so much and it was fun to think
about how my family came to American. CJ
enjoyed going to lunch and walking around the Church/cemetery but that was
about it.
I talked a friend from work into going to
Biltmore with me. She has a 4 year old
daughter. We had a great day with
them. CJ was so good with Macy telling
her all about the house and the Vanderbilt, she showed her all of her favorite
places. Summer said that because CJ was
taking such good care of Macy she was able to really enjoy the house and feel
in love. By the time we left she bought
a season pass, so she could go back. The
place was so crowded and it was hard to see everything thing, but I did not
mind I loved being up there and it was so relaxing.
During the last part of Spring break we went to
Virginia for Jay's Family Reunion. We sent up on Friday and stayed in Ron’s
camper. Jay showed us that in Altavista there is a Street names Doss. Jay got up very early in the morning and
smoked the pork. It was very cooled that day and poor Jay forgot a coat. When CJ and I got up Ron took us to Walmart
so that we could try and find of coat for Jay.
They did not have any but there was a thrift store close. So I ran in and found a coat that was not
nice but it would be warm. The reunion
was not as big as the last one but all of Linda’s siblings were there. Jay did
a great job with the food and even though it was cool we had a nice visit with
the family. After dinner we came home so
that we would have Sunday to relax before we had to head back to work.
