The next day after the Talent show we took CJ to see her first circus. The Barnum and Bailey Circus was closing and this was the last show that they would be preforming so I took CJ. It was a great show and CJ really liked it. She was on the edge of her seat watching the show. There was so much singing and dancing that we all liked.
The weekend before Jay's birthday we decided to take him up to Ashville. A couple of years ago Jay bought a cook book from a restaurant called "12 Bones Smokehouse". This restaurant is one of former president Obama's favorite places to go in Ashville. Jay has been wanting to go there for a long time but they have limited hours and we seemed never to make it. So on Saturday we got up early and drove up the mountain to "12 Bones." The atmosphere was pretty cool. It is an old filling station transformed into an eatery, but we worried when we got there and did not smell smoke or see a smoker. Jay had a pretty good sandwich called the Hogzilla which was pulled pork, bacon slices and a brat. The corn pudding was very good! My meal was not good and CJ would not even finish her pulled pork. As we left the restaurant saying that we were glad that we came but will not go back, Jay said that he guessed that a guy from Chicago must know nothing about good BBQ. It was a good afternoon as a family.
I have been having a tough time keeping myself together lately. Just been in a blue funk that I just can seem to break. So Jay decided to see if he could make me laugh by drawing faces on my eggs so that in the morning when I made my breakfast I would open the box. They were so cute I had trouble eating them.
February 18th CJ want to her American girl doll club meeting. She made stationary and envelops for one of the centers and worked with some of the kids to show them how to make their own stationary and envelops. She was also interviewed to ask why she loves coming to American girl. I think that she really likes being about to help out as well as still coming to the meetings.

CJ finely had her middle school Beta Club induction. She already is putting in hours at the Museum and at temple. I think that she will have her 20 volunteer hour before she knows it.
The weekend before my birthday, Jay had a BBQ competition in Port Royal, SC. I took a day off work and we went with him. I wanted to go to Charleston and see a friend. It was a fun weekend. When we got there we dropped Jay off at the competition. The bugs were really bad and I got all bit up. CJ and I left Jay and went to try and check into our hotel room. We were not able to check in so yet so we went to Down Town Beauford. It was a really cute town on the water front. We walked the park and got ice cream at the local ice cream shop. The shop was so cute and the people were really nice we decided that we had to take Jay there later. We left downtown and checked into our hotel. The people were very nice for it being so busy. We then went to Charleston which was an hour away to have dinner with my Friend Kirri. She is so young and full of fun energy. After dinner we ran back to Port Royal and picked Jay up so that he could come back to the hotel to sleep. We got up the next morning, had breakfast, took Jay back to Port Royal for the competition, and then CJ and I went back to Charleston. We pick Kirri up and drove into downtown. She took us to the First Scot Presbyterian Church. This was the church that Captain James Kincaid and William Kincaid attained when they were in Charleston and were buried at. It was so emotional to stand in the same spot that our Great, Great, Great, Great, Great grandfathers did. It took some time going through the grave sites before we found their tomb stones. We were sad to see that they had been moved and put up on a wall so that they could expand the church. At least they were there. It was hard to read them but we did.
After our trip to the church we started to walk around looking at the site. I could not afford to take everyone out to see Fort Sumter so we walked the pier and looked at it though the telescope. CJ thought that the big battle ship with the planes on it was just as interesting. Kirri and I had a great talk and got all caught up. We then went to the Market to walk around and look at all the crafts and other things for sale. CJ bought herself a new necklace and earrings with the tree of life on it. CJ loved the market but the weather changed very fast and I had dressed her for cold weather, so as the temperatures started to rise CJ became very over heated. I told her that we would start to look for a summer dress for her so that she could change and cool off. We first went to lunch at this place that had the largest pizza I have every seen. The slices were so big they did not even have plates they could put in on.
We found a store that had dresses and CJ went to town trying on all kinds of outfits. When I found out that they had a sale and the dresses were only $2.80 each. I told CJ she could get them all. 10 dresses later we left the store. We had to get back to pick up Jay so we were not able to do much else in Charleston and we were tired from all the shopping. We will have to go back to see more another day. We got back to get Jay and he told us that they did not do well in the competition. Jay did keep talking about how great the Poorboy's at this restaurant was there in Port Royal so that is were we went for dinner. That night as a family we walked int he park in Beaufort and watched the sun go down.It was so peaceful and beautiful.
The next day we went to some other sites and it was amazing. We saw a wall that was build hundreds of years ago out of shell that has still survived. We even went to a used book store and found the book that was written on the Kincaid family genealogy. So Jay got that for me for my birthday.
On our way home we stopped to look at this Old Sheldon Church ruins. It was so beautiful.and amazing that it was still standing hundreds of years later.
The month ended with my birthday. It was a good day with my family and I always love confusing my Students.
