October 2017

October started out with Miles' Bar Mitzvah.  This is the first of CJ's friends from her Hebrew school class to have their Bar Mitzvah.  CJ and Miles have been in Hebrew school together since they were 3 years old so this was a big one. We went to the service Friday night were they had the kindergarten confirmation. I could not help but remember when CJ and Miles were up on the bimah for their confirmation.  Miles singing loud and CJ playing with her hair.  The next day we went to his service, lunch in, and then they all went to Franky's Fun Park.

 The next weekend was another birthday party. CJ was to sing in the Choir but I thought that it was more important for her to go to Chanessay's birthday party. Chanessay always comes camping with us and has been friends with CJ since 1st grade. Chanessay does not get a birthday party every year because she is one of 5 children in her family.  CJ got to go roller skating and see some of her old friends from Palmetto.

The next weekend was the Anderson BBQ competition.  This one we tried our Chicken Wings and Oh-So-Good for the Anything But Friday night turn in.  They both did not go over so well. We were not last this time, but close to last.  It was cold and Jay did everything by himself.  CJ stayed to help but she was not much help.  Jay said she went to the truck and slept most of the night.   We made in the top 10 but did not get a call and as Jay said it was a long ride home when you are tired and did not win anything.  I asked if he still wanted to do this even if we did not win.  He said that he still enjoyed it and wanted to even do more than 3 competitions next year.

The very next weekend we went camping for our annual fall break to Huntington beach. Channessay was supposed to come with us but got sick the day before we left.  It was not a long trip this year and we were there before Halloween so they had hunted Atalaya.  CJ at first did not what to go in the really scary part so we walked around the not scary.  She then changed her mind and wanted to do the big scare.  We meet another girl in line that was just a little younger then CJ, she was really scared and wanted CJ to go with her.  She told the guy who was letting people he that we were a group and needed to go together.  They wanted me to go in first and the two girls walked behind me.  They were just so funny but CJ really enjoyed the big scared part.  She said that it was not that bad after we got through it.  I was glad that I was able to take her to her first hunted house and that it was at a place she really likes and is comfortable with.  Jay got to do a lot of fishing and caught a bunch of fish.  Jay and our friends Ken and Fay joked all weekend about the biggest fish they were going to catch and who was going to catch it.  Jay got a fish on his line that pulled all the string right off and snapped the line.  The weekend had great weather but the night before we were to leave the wind picked up and the weather got very cold.  We ended up having to have Ken and Fay in the camper for dinner that night.  We were glad that we have a much bigger camper so that we could fit everyone in and we could all stay warm.

When we got back, Tuesday was Halloween.  I had made CJ a Cheshire cat hat and she dressed in black and blue stripes.  We went to Beth's home for a Halloween party.
