On the First CJ had her Principals Academic award ceremony. She received the Golden Jacket award for being a well-behaved student and then the award for her grades. She had the 2nd highest GPA in the whole 8th-grade class. I was in such ough of her. I could not believe that she received that. I know I had a smart daughter I just did not know she was that smart. I am so proud. She is such an amazing girl and she did that will very little help from Jay and I. With my learning disability she is more advanced then I am in ELA and science. I also have been so busy with getting ready for the surgery that I was not paying attention to how she was keeping up with her studies. She did this all on her own.
Jay that weekend let CJ go out to eat anywhere that she wanted to celebrate. She wanted to go to Golden Correl. This was a difficulty for me because of being on crutches. CJ said that she would help me with the plate. It was a fun dinner out and Jay was so proud of CJ having a nice raw steak.
Sunday we had Hebrew school. CJ helped me set up for the OyVey Cafe and then had to go to class. I really had a lot of trouble cleaning up by myself. I ended up having to ask for help from some of the ladies that were sitting around. I hate asking for help and that is all I can do these days.
The next week was busy at work trying to still get caught up with things after being absent. CJ started getting frustrated with having to help me with carrying everything and helping with stuff. Her dad would put treats in her lunch box to remind her how important it was to help but she still would roll her eyes and try to get out of doing what she could. This was hard on me as well because I am to take care of her not her taking care of me.
The next week on Sunday early morning CJ woke up around 2:00 in the morning and started throwing up. Being on crutches I could not help Jay clean up and it was bad. She has thrown up everywhere, Jay had to open the windows in the house because the smell was so bad and he could not stop gagging. The flu was going around the school so I was afraid that CJ had the flu but she was not running a fever just throwing up. Then during the night, CJ got diarrhea and then the fever started. I was not sure if I should take her to the doctor and see if it was the flu or just let her get over it. As the day went on CJ did not get any better and after giving her Tylenol the fever did not go down. I told Jay that I was going to take her to the doctor. We spend the rest of the day in urgent care. It turned out that she had the flu and that she needed to be out of school for the rest of the week.
I took Monday off of work to just make sure that CJ was ok. She was fine and just rested. No fever, she did not throw up, and no more diarrhea. She was just tired and was not eating much. She said that she was a little dizzy when she would get up and walk around. The next day, I went back to work and left CJ to continue to rest. She said that she was fine and wanted to go back to school. She was eating again and the dizziness was gone. I called her regular doctor and they said that she could go back to school. When I came home and told her she was happy. I was surprised to see someone happy about going to school.
The morning that she was able to go back to school, we had a meeting at Palmetto High school to look at registering her and picking her classes for her Freshman year in high school. It was scary to think that my baby was going to go to high school next year. CJ wanted to take Spanish and Project lead the way which is a technology engineering class. She also was signed up for English II, Algebra II, Biology, and AP World History. We were not sure about her taking AP world history because that was a college baring class and would be a lot of work. But I let it up to CJ if she wanted to do it or not and she said that she did. I was again so proud of her and could not believe how smart my baby girl is.
Thursday was Jay's birthday. All that he wanted was a coconut cake from the Sweetery. I had forgotten to order one until the night before his birthday but they stated that it was no problem and had the cake ready for me. After work I picked up the cake, I was surprised that such an expensive cake was lopsided. Jay loved the cake lopsided or not. I was glad.
I also got him an electric warming holder for his BBQ stuff. Jay was talking during BBQ season that he wanted something that would be able to keep his BBQ warm before turn in. I did some research and found something that would work. I think that Jay loved it. He could not wait to cook and try it out.
The third Saturday of the month is CJ's American Girl club volunteer day. She made juggling balls with the girls. She is good working with those girls. I helped as well because they were short some volunteers.
I had an in-service day on Presidents day. CJ went to Millie's to spend the night. She had so much fun. While I was out on leave the job posting for the Special Education Coordinator position come up and I applied. I was asked to come in at 3:00 on that Monday for the first part of the interview for the job. When I got into the interview it was not like any normal interview. I was placed in a room with a computer and had to write 4 essays in 45 minutes. I should have just walked out because I know at that point I had no chance of ever getting that job. I can not write well my learning disability gets in the way. I can fake it when it is verbal but not when I have to write something. I was so sad and depressed all week. I tried to keep my hopes up for a short time but the rain and cold weather did not help my mood. My whole life I have had to fight and pretend that my LD was not going to ever stop me from getting what I want. I am not sure if I will ever be able to get an administration job. Greenville County rejected me before I was even able to interview and then this.
I never got called for a second interview but I know I would not. I have been so depressed over all of this, the rain that has been endless has not helped. We have had none stop rain this whole month. To make things worse my cat has not come home for 2 weeks. We called the pound but he was not there he just has disappeared. I am sure that he wandered off to die because he was getting old. I just miss him and can not give up hope that he will come home.
The last week of February, at physical therapy they started to let me put weight on my hip. I was glad to start being able to walk a little bit. I was walking around the house with one crutch. I still can not walk for very long but glad that I am working to get rid of the crutches. I will be so happy when I can get rid of the crutches and move normally again.
On February 28th we celebrated my birthday. My friends Beth snuck into my classroom and decorated my desk. It made me so happy. At dinner, Jay got me Hostess Cupcakes for dessert. He also got me a new Michael Kors handbag. I was so surprised and loved it. He was so funny. He said that when he went to the store to get the bag, he told the sales lady that he wanted a Michael Kors bag. She then showed him the price of the bags and he was freaked out. He could not believe the price of a designer handbag. I tried to tell him that is why I was so excited when Montse had gotten me the Michael Kors bag and why I was so sad when it broke. He told me that he had never seen me so proud of a purse before and wanted to get me one again. He was not able to afford the leather one but he got me one that I just love. I was a little upset that he spent that kind of money on a handbag but I really do love it.
