March 2019

March did come in like a lion.  I was still on crutches but starting to move a little better.  We were still having a lot of ran, but Saturday it cleared up which was so nice.  Jay took me to North Carolina to a restaurant names "Caffe Rel" for my birthday lunch. We drove up the mountain which was so beautiful.  We stopped for a minute at the Chattooga River.  We walked out on the overlook to see the river and the kayakers go by.  It was so pretty and peaceful but I kept wishing that I could go hike up the stairs to the other overlook.  It was hard just walking to the end of the pier.  CJ wanted to walk down to the river and run around a bit.  It was so nice I think for both of us to get out of the house.
When we got to the restaurant it was funny. I could not believe that it was in a Hot Spot gas station that was run down.  You walked into the restaurant and it was this fancy French restaurant.  The inside was very nice and totally different than the outside.  We had to share a bathroom with the Hotspot and the bathroom was not very nice.  It was also funny because they served wine at the restaurant but not beer.  The group next to us wanted beer so the waitress told them just to go into the Hotspot get the beer and she will bring the glasses.  I have never seen anything like that.  they went and get beer in brown bags from the Hotspot and poured it into the glasses the waitress got. The food was really good and it was not too pricey.

We then come down the mountain.  We thought about stopping by Foxfire Museum but with all the walking uphill, all I could do was take a picture of the museum.  I hope to be able to go back up there when I can walk better.
The next week went by fast because I had so much going on.  With physical therapy twice a week and not getting home until close to 7:00, and then one day of week CJ's piano lessons were we do not get home until 6:30 I feel that we get nothing else done during the week.

Friday, the youth group was to do the Shabbat service.  CJ was going to play her ukulele and sing some of the prays.  Like always CJ did an amazing job.  Jay did not get her final song on video or her speech.  At first, I thought her speech was something from a book because it was so good.  But she wrote it.  I am just amazed by her writing.

The next day we had a pot luck at temple and Havdalah service.  CJ really likes Havdalah. She was able to help with the service along with some of the other kids.  CJ is so good with all the younger kids at the temple.
This week at school, one of my former students came to talk to the 6th grade.  He has become a big football star at our High school and was picked by many colleges to play ball.  My students only respect ballplayers so it was nice that he came and talked to them about working hard at school and about his story being in my class and reading being very hard for him.  As he was talking to the kids he told them that I was his favorite teacher and like a mom at school because I kicked his butt to work hard.  I almost cried when he was talking. This has been a tough year at school and Zacch coming to talk reminded why I teach.

During the weekend, CJ and I made Hamantaschen for Purim. The theme this year for Purim was Bohemian-Rhapsody.  Everyone dressed as if they were rock stars or Freddy Mercury for Queen.  They did Queen songs for the reading of the Megillah.   It was such a fun Purim and CJ loved her black makeup.  She liked it so much that she wanted to wear it to school, but she found that it took a lot of time in the morning to put on that much makeup.  Her wearing the black make up to school only lasted a day.

That Monday CJ and I had that day off because of my hip I am still having difficulty walking so CJ and had to come up with something to do that did not require a lot of walking.  We decided to go to the movies.  CJ loves Marvel movies, so we want to see Marvel. It was good to see a movie like that on the big screen with all the special effects.  CJ had a really good time and it worked out well for a nice mother-daughter day that did not require a lot of walking.

Friday CJ went to her first BBYO convention.  Jay and I drove her to Columbia.  I was very nervous about making sure that she had everything that she needed and was dressed right.  The traffic was bad going and CJ was very worried that we would be late.  She was trying to find alternative routes on her phone and kept questions every move that her dad made with the car. Jay said after we got her there it was funny but she was going too far with it.  We got her there right on time but because of the traffic, everyone else was late so CJ was really there early.  We got her settled in Jay and I want for dinner but where we wanted to try was so busy and it was almost an hour wait for dinner.  We decided that was not the place for us.  We just decided to find a Chick-fil-A.  We got home late and the next day we just had a peaceful day together. Sunday, I drove back to Columbia to get CJ and pick up the other from Greenville and take them home.  CJ was so excited about all the things that she did and learned.

After we got back to Greenville I took CJ to Petsmart to get her a new cat.  A friend told me about a rescue kitten that was 5 months old.  We picked her up and all CJ said was that this was the best weekend ever.  The cat's name was Katana and CJ did not what to change it. She was orange and gray just like Willy and Bear.  CJ just will not let the cat go she is so happy to have her.
