April 2019

April was a busy month.  My hip is still not healed so we had to take it easy, which is not in my nature. CJ made Principals academic again but this time she was not the 2nd in her class but she still had a very high GPA.
CJ's new cat is very sick.  We have had to take it to the vet and it has a repository infection.  We have to give it medication every day.  I am very worried about the cat.  She is sneezing all over the place.  We also noticed that she has a cataract in her eye.  The vet said that there is nothing that we can do about the cataract that she is just going to go blind in that one eye.

Shalom fest was the first weekend of the month.  I helped in the gift shop and CJ sang with the choir.  She was also with David played music every hour in the children's area.  I thought that it was a little much playing every hour, especially because most of the time the room that they were in the magician would finish and then all the kids would leave before it was time for CJ to play. She would only be playing for like one child. Even with only playing for one child she was still amazing and kept playing. My the time Shalomfest ended I was having trouble walking it was such a long day and needed to get a ride to my car.

The next weekend was the start of spring break.  After school on Friday. Jay meet us and we drove CJ to Camp Coleman for NFTY Spring Kallah. She was so excited to be back at Camp Coleman even if it was just for a small weekend event.  She had a great time at camp and really connected with some other Jewish friends from all over the South.  All her bunkmates started a group chat so that they could continue to be silly together.

After we dropped CJ off at camp Jay and I went to dinner.  We found a cute little local deli in Cleveland, GA and sat on the patio outside and had a nice dinner together.  Jay and I send it is funny how CJ is getting older and we are finding more times when it is just the two of us and get to have a nice dinner together.  We also stopped for Dairy Queen just because we could.

The next morning we got up and cleaned house.  We then drive to Gaffney to pick up my Uncle.  He was going to come to stay with us over spring break.  He started his trip in Charlette visiting his old high school friend.  The trip went very smooth and we got home and visited for a bit.  Sunday I get up early and went Greenville to get bagels for everyone and then drove back to Georgia to get CJ. After I get CJ I drove down to Camden, GA because Lydia and Perry were their because Perry's mother had passed and they come for her funeral.  All week Lydia was so close but I could not bother them.  I thought that because Sunday was their last day I would get a hotel by the airport and take them to the airport on Monday morning.  CJ and I get to meet some of Perry's family before I was able to sneak them away.  The hotel that Jay got for us was so close to the airport that we could see the planes landing.  They also had a Vietnamese restaurant right next door, so we were able to have a very nice dinner and spend time together.  I was so bad I brought my sewing machine and had Lydia help me sew CJ's American girl doll costume.  I know that it was only a few hours that I get to see Lydia and Perry but I was so glad that I got to spend time with them.
It was sad to drive home early Monday morning. I love seeing my sister and it is always sad to see her go. Only a couple months and we see each other again.  While CJ and I were in Georgia, Jay and My Uncle made BBQ and Jay worked on practicing for his competition.  My Uncle loves Jay's BBQ and was looking forward to it. I spent the first couple of days of Spring Break going to Physical Therapy trying to relax.  On Wednesday I decided to take my Uncle to see Biltmore.  I was surprised that I was able to do so much walking without much pain. I was not sure if my Uncle likes the house or his visit to the winery and gardens.  It was only when we got home and he was telling Jay all about it and how impressive the place was.  That was when I know I had done the right thing by taking him to see Biltmore.

On Friday started the first night of Passover.  We were invited to Laura's for dinner.  So, we all went up to the mountain for a very nice seder dinner.  I spend Thursday and Friday morning trying new recipes for a Passover friendly dessert.  Most of the people at the dinner were my uncle's age so he had a very nice time talking with everyone. Laura's niece was there and she was in her 20's so when she saw CJ who was the closest to her age then anyone else there she latched on to her and they talked all night.  By the end of the night, they exchanged phone numbers and talked about getting together when we come to New York this summer because Laura's niece lives in New York.

The next day we had Seder dinner at the temple for the second night of Passover.

Saturday, I took my uncle to the airport so that he could go home.  We had such a nice visit.  Then I came home and took CJ to the American Girl meeting.  I am still not done with her dress but she wore it anyway and it looked great even though it was not finished.  I am so proud of her volunteering. She said that she wants to start doing more.  Like volunteering at the front desk and for other events.

Tuesday we went back to school and started our count down until the end of the year. CJ had a get together at the museum to say goodbye to all the senior volunteers and welcome the new high schools.  It was a pajama one's party.
